Another Great Idea From Julie
Julie Payne of Herff Jones had some wristbands made for the shelter to sell. They are being sold for $1.00 each and ACARF keeps $.50. Buy yours today and show your support. Thanks again, Julie and Herff Jones, for all your help.

Can a Dollar Make a Difference? You bet it can! Especially when there are lots of them and most of the dollar is profit! Ona Chapman has been selling lollipops at the Iola Middle School for a long time, and she reported that the first month of school (August 23 to September 24, the total donation to ACARF was a whopping $677. Ona reports that she’s ordered lollipops every week, astounding the salesman. Once the kids knew that 65 cents of every lollipop went to help the animals, they’ve purchased a bunch! Thanks, All!
What does 660 cans of pop look like? Well, we’re not sure, ‘cause it wouldn’t all fit in the picture, but, sure enough, the IMS kids collected it! They had a contest be-tween TA groups to see who could collect the most; First place went to Merryl McRae’s TA with 200 cans; Second place went to Denise Warhurst’s group with 180 cans. First and second place winners each received a lollipop. These cans of soda will translate into $660 that will go to help care for our dogs and cats. Right On!

Shelter work would be al-most impossible if it weren’t for all the dedicated volun-teers. One of the most spe-cial is Bud Jones who is often seen trimming, weed-ing, and doing all the odd jobs at the shelter. Last week he made a trip to the Wal-Mart Distribution Center to pick up bags of dog food (broken or dam-aged bags are donated to shelters). It was a HUGE amount of food, and Mike and Jennifer Phillips were kind enough to lend their trailer to the cause.
It just couldn’t be done without the Buds, the
Mikes, and the Jennifers.
Thank you
Hear my prayer, O God; Give ear to the words of my mouth.

Congratulations, Humboldt! What a lovely day for your annual celebration! Lots of sunshine, people, music, food, activities, and a beautiful parade. You couldn’t have arranged it better. Our float entry was a result of labor from several: Pastor Steve Traw built the A-frame; Harvey Peck did the wonderful painting; Jim Smith and Scooter pulled the float in the parade; Brenda Clark was the Mastermind/Coordinator. Many thanks to you all for a job well done! The concession trailer had a wonder location next to the bandstand and a steady stream of customers all day, served very efficiently by our experienced team; Jeanne Cloud, Ginny Hawk, Fran Clay, and Ona Chapman. Sue Tucker as-sisted Jeanne in pulling the trailer to Humboldt on Friday and helping her set it up for Saturday morning. Hazel Jones was on hand Friday afternoon to help with ice. It takes a lot of planning and organizing to prepare, as well as spending long days working. You are all much appreciated.

Sasha
Thanks for sharing this newsletter with others!
Little Sasha is a beautiful German Shepherd mix female puppy who is about four months old. Sasha was found at the side of a highway with a terrible head wound and inter-nal bleeding. When she was brought to the shelter Sasha was hurt, starved, and terrified. Now, however, she is fully recovered and has become the beautiful, happy puppy she was meant to be. Sasha has no residual problems from her injuries. She is extremely smart, likes absolutely everyone, and has an unusually calm demeanor for a dog her age. Healthy, strong, and adorable—Sasha is ready for a home and a family to love.
