Dear Brothers and Sisters, Today we celebrate the feast of the Body and Blood of Jesus. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, became man. During each Mass, Jesus Christ feeds us with His Own Body and Blood. Consequently, Jesus becomes not only someone who is related to us by blood, he becomes our brother. This very special relationship with Jesus Christ through blood creates certain familial obligations on our part. In other words, since Jesus Christ is our brother and feeds us with His Own Blood, and be-cause He is so close to us, we have certain responsi-bilities. Just as in our families we are obliged to respect and love one another, so too are we obliged to respect and to love Jesus. To respect and to love Jesus means that we must fol-low the teachings of the Church. * * * Today we celebrate the graduation of our 8th grade class. Congratulations to the Class of 2018. We wish them much success in high school and pray that they continue to be a part of St. Barbara Parish. Congratulations to the parents of these fine students; please continue your support and Christian example as they begin their high school life. I would also like to wish our principal, our teachers and all of our students a happy, safe, and restful summer vacation. See you at the carnival — and be sure to bring your friends. Parishioners, I ask you to please return your Carni-val raffle tickets. As this is our major fundraiser, the church is depending on the returns from the raffle to help defray some of the fuel and electricity costs for the parish and school, which are steadily rising. Pray for good weather and a great time to be had by all. Fr. Arthur

A Mass of Healing will be said this Tuesday, June 5th, at 6:00 p.m. in Church. This Mass is for the intention of all who need health blessings. Be sure to join us for this special Mass which takes place the first Tuesday of every month.

Summer Lectoring Change We’re giving our dedicated lectors a little break this summer. With the months of June, July and August, there will be one lector at every Mass rather than two. This will offer them more leisure time to be with their families and friends on Saturday after-noons and Sunday mornings. If you feel called to this ministry, please call the rec-tory, leaving your name and phone number. You will be contacted!

14th Annual Haiku Festival

This year, the entire 5th grade class participated in the 14th Annual Haiku Festival. Angeleo Alonso was one of the first place finishers. All the students received Certificates of Participation. It was amazing to see how this group of students created colorful, well-stated poems. Awesome job, fifth grade!
