State of The Arts Festival By the time you read this the Festival may be all over, but on Wednesday 19th the students performed at the River Gum Performing Arts Centre with a number of other schools. This is always such a celebration of the talents of the students in the Hampton Park area and I thank Miss Rendall and Mr Jenkins for their efforts to have students prepared for such a showcase event. Due to the Prep Information night I was unable to attend but I know the students will have done the school and themselves proud. Jump Rope For Heart I received an email this week thanking the students for their efforts in the recent Jump Rope for Heart Challenge. On behalf of the Heart Foundation, I am writing to express our thanks to the students, families, friends and staff of Kilberry Valley Primary School for participating in the Heart Foundation Jump Rope for Heart program in 2016. In particular, I would like to acknowledge Jayne Taffe, whose efforts in co-ordinating the program greatly contributed to its success. We are most appreciative of the $3153.86, raised by your school community. Heart disease remains the single leading cause of death in Australia. By supporting the Heart Foundations Jump Rope for Heart, your school community is making a positive contribution to the health of all Australians raising much needed funds for heart research. We trust that Jump Rope has contributed to the health of your students by encouraging healthy lifestyle behaviours and showing them the many benefits of participating in regular physical activity. Once more, thank you for your invaluable support and we look forward to welcoming you back in 2017. Special thanks go to Miss Taffe for her organisation to ensure the day was such a success. Again, congratulations and thanks to everyone for the enthusiasm shown during the event and for the generosity with the amount raised for the foundation. 2017 Enrolments – Are You Leaving? We are well into planning mode for 2017 and need to have a correct estimate of the enrolments we will have next year to obviously ensure our planning is accurate and we have the relevant numbers of staff on board. So I would ask you to do the following:

If you have a sibling that is not enrolled as yet please come to the office and complete the enrolment forms. If you know you are leaving and will not be at Kilberry next year please inform the office so we know not to include your children in the planning. If you know of any friends who are still to enrol please strongly encourage them to also come to the office and complete the enrolment forms.

DVD and USB orders for School Musical The last for ordering these keep sakes is Friday this week so if you haven’t done so you had better get the office before Friday! Have a great week and keep smiling!

In grade 6 we’ve been

with different changes of various

objects. We have learnt about

physical and chemical changes,

for example a physical change

is something that can be

reversed back to its original state

and a chemical change is

something that is irreversible and

can’t go back to it’s

original state.

We had one session called

“Mess Scene” and we got to look

and see what things were at each

scene. There was either a chemical

or physical change on each table.

Before we headed over to have a

look, we wrote down the

following questions:

What can you observe about

each example?

What changes have occurred to

the original objects and materials?

Do you think the changes can be

reversed? Why? How? Why not?

At each scene we answered these

questions in our book and talked

about it afterwards.

Kilberry has experienced great success in the recent weeks, with our very

talented students showcasing their skills in Basketball and Athletics.

McDonalds Hoop Time

Where to start with this amazing and talented bunch of girls?

Monday 17th October, our Kilberry girls arrived at Dandenong Basketball Stadium

to take on the Southern Region in the McDonalds Hoop Time Basketball Tournament.

The girls played 5 games, winning all and progressing into the State Finals!

The girls set this goal months ago and have been training at 8am twice a week and

given up 2 lunch times to ensure they were well prepared.

Their dedication, teamwork and attitude are incredible and all girls

should be extremely proud of their efforts. Well done!

CHANGE OF CLOTHING FOR STUDENTS

We would like to remind parents to

provide a change of clothing in children’s school

bags—preferably some clean underwear,

track suit pants, windcheater, shorts or a dress.

This is handy for

ALL children in ALL grade levels .

It makes them feel less stressed if they

require a change of clothing owing to an

accident or a blood nose or they fall in the mud.

We ask for your co-operation with this

matter as our Sick Bay is unable to cope

with the large volume of people

requiring changes of clothing.

THANK YOU
