    GENERAL SUMMARY: The Development Specialist has a vital role at the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre and School of Theatre Arts. This position provides customer service support to donors, volunteers and Theatre staff, planning and coordination of donor events, data management and reporting, and coordination in all aspects of Donor Development. This position works in close collaboration with the Board, Executive Development staff, and volunteers. Attention to detail, problem solving, knowledge of Community Theatre/Arts, and overall enjoyment of a fast paced and high energy workplace is necessary. Office based: part-time professional office position averaging XX hours a week.

    REPORTS TO: Director of Development and Community Relations

    CLASSIFICATION: Hourly

    EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelors

    SKILLS REQUIRED: Microsoft Office, Email, Internet,

    SKILLS PREFERRED: Giftworks

    Coordinate fundraising events including donor lounges, donor cards, managing event processes and logistics, committee activities, and event follow-up. Prepare donor research, queries, written acknowledgement letters, and other campaign literature. Coordinate communication with volunteers and donors for personal engagement, event assignments, and committee meetings. Coordination and Distribution of Development Newsletter Manage the development database operations including: software program setup, data entry, gift recording and acknowledgments, gift reporting, playbill acknowledgement, sponsor recognition, and maintenance of prospect and donor data. Maintain the list of current, past and prospective donors in donor software. Maintain record of support and materials from donors, sponsors, playbill sales, foundations, and media. Processing of Corporate Memberships and Sponsorships within ticketing software. Maintain communication between school, ticketing software, and volunteer base for current data contact lists of current/prospective donors. Coordinate all fundraising events including donor lounges, donor cards, managing event processes and logistics, committee meetings, and event follow-up. Help organize volunteer committees and assist with training of other volunteers.

    Demonstrated ability to handle donor interest and personal information in a timely manner, with tact and sensitivity, in a confidential manner. Ability to work collaboratively with a strong customer service orientation. Professional presentation, with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, and an energetic and engaging personality. Excellent organizational skills, with accuracy and attention to detail. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, Social Media and database management. Ability to set and meet realistic goals, establish work priorities, organize people and materials to reach goals, handle pressure well, and report results. Ability to multi-task while handling work expectations, including telephone, basic office machines, reading, writing, typing and computer/ data entry, and some travel. Ability to set and work within a budget, secure price quotes, and indentify cost saving opportunities for department (Theatre). Some Evening and Weekend Work Required.

    Prepare and execute mailings. Point person for management of community donation requests for free tickets. Other duties as necessary and assigned.
