Introducing DeviceAnywhere Enterprise for UFT (formerly QuickTest Pro or QTP), a certified integration designed to extend UFT’s functional testing (automation) capabilities into mobile, by leveraging Keynote’s market leading DeviceAnywhere platform, in an integrated and secure manner.

Enterprises are increasingly looking to expand their ALM capabilities to include mobile application testing. UFT users now have an option to perform mobile functional testing (regression) with access to real mobile devices hosted in the cloud, leveraging the native test automation capabilities found in UFT.

REAL DEVICE MOBILE TESTING - access the leading real device testing platform with full device functionality without requiring jailbreaking/rooting devices, or the intrusive installation of device agents.

TEST AUTOMATION FEATURES - supports native, object–level scripting, and advanced text/ UI-based capabilities.

FULL APPLICATION SUPPORT - provides the ability to test native apps, mobile-enhanced websites, and hybrid applications.

POINT AND CLICK RECORDING - leverages the built-in UFT recording capabilities for mobile testing on real devices. The integration provides test teams the ability to create and execute test automation scripts within UFT. The DeviceAnywhere devices are displayed docked within the UFT window. This integration leverages all of the native UFT controls (data tables, looping, branching, conditional logic, etc).

DEVICEANYWHERE ENTERPRISE FOR UFT ADD-IN DETAILS

The DeviceAnywhere Enterprise for UFT Add-in is available for all Keynote customers who purchase subscriptions to the DeviceAnywhere platform. The Add-in is installed and enabled in a client machine, and it is ready to be used with a private cloud of devices managed by Keynote. There is no need to configure the Add-in. The user only needs to enable the Add-in from the first window that pops up in UFT. This Add-in establishes the connection to the DeviceAnywhere private cloud and displays the real mobile devices available to test on, given the user credentials.

DeviceAnywhere Enterprise for UFT is built on Keynote’s market leading DeviceAnywhere platform which allows QA engineers to remotely interact and control every aspect of device testing including pressing handset buttons, viewing displays, listening to ringers and tones, playing videos, swiping touch screens, muting, powering on/off, downloading/installing apps, and sending/receiving messages.

Every action that can be done with the mobile device in-hand can be performed remotely on this platform. Keynote’s DeviceAnywhere platform is designed for maximum flexibility so it can be deployed to fit specific business needs. This includes dedicated private devices available either on-premise or securely hosted by Keynote, as well as the option of local devices plugged directly into a local computer.

INTEGRATION WITH UFT

UFT users can now build a library of reusable, data-driven mobile scripts. These scripts can be scheduled to run across various devices, producing detailed audit reports to include screenshots, text values, and even video.

This allows every member of the QA team to reuse the test scripts, reduce duplicate work, and significantly simplify your test maintenance. You can manage all your testing assets from a global, web-based central location to promote collaboration between workgroups, reuse tests between builds and applications and perform advanced change and impact analysis.

BUILDING TEST SCRIPTS FOR MOBILE APPLICATIONS AND WEBSITES

This level of UFT integration enables users to script the same way in which they have been doing so far, leveraging the built-in UFT capabilities such as:

• Record and playback (finding the x-path for web-based applications)

• Native controls (data table, looping, conditional logic)

All of the script-building activities take place within UFT with continuous, real-time access to a private cloud of real devices, with no limitations of operating systems and/or form factors.
