My first few weeks in office have been a steep learning curve, even aſter assisng the Secretary last year. The one re- occurring thing that can cause problems for the Centre is the old chestnut of members not renewing their membership to the Centre when renewing their annual membership to the Caravan Club. You can do this in three ways: Complete and return the slip that accompanies your new membership details, update your details online at www.caravanclub.co.uk or phone 01342 326944. Paul and his elf are busy pung the finishing touches to the 2014 Rally Book and they hope to be with you in the early New Year. They, and the Centre, need more people to rally this year and to have each rally full. If you don’t see anything that you want to visit then think about running one yourself, even get some- one to Steward it and you help out. REMEMBER A RALLY IS WHATEVER YOU WANT IT TO BE But enough of the heavy stuff-I wish you and your family all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Rallying New Year. I would like to take this opportunity to thanks everyone for their kind messages, cards and support at the AGM in October when I became your Centre Chairman. My sincere thanks must go to Linda & John Heal and their team for making the weekend such a success. To Jean Hoskin for the wonderful flowers and I would also like to thank Euphine for ckling the ivories. I would like to say a special thank-you to Rev. Bruce Dixon for conducng the Church Service. Our chosen fundraising this year is to be the CHESTNUT APPEAL for Prostate Cancer. The Chestnut Appeal is the regions only local Prostate Cancer Charity, whose aims are to supply the latest equipment, treatment and funding of salaries for prostate cancer nurse specialists. Their latest campaign is to fund two mobile scanner machines at a cost of £35,000 each, this will mean that prostate scans can take place in local community hospitals without the wait or the stress of travelling to one of the major hospitals. It will make the detecon of pros- tate cancer faster and easier. Can I please ask for your support. Our rally programme this year is varied. Thanks must go to Paul and Michele for their efforts in pung it together. The Centre’s annual Dinner Dance will be held at the Best Western Cliff Head Hotel, St Austell, details are in the Rally Book. The “Chairman’s Challenge” this year will take place at the extended Chairman’s Rally. The plan is to cycle the length and breadth of the Devon and Cornwall coast line a total of 369.2 miles using exercise bikes at Stowford. Anyone who is willing will be welcome to join in the event, the more the merrier each mile someone completes will be deducted from the target. Please contact me and I will provide you with the necessary sponsorship form. This year the Caravan Club Naonal Rally will be held at Arley Hall in Cheshire, it would be great to see as many of you their as possible. We also have the Rally of the Wessex over the August Bank Holiday, once again your support would be most welcome. As another year draws to its’ close, Mary & I would like to wish each and everyone of you a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year. Devon & Cornwall Centre Dec Newsletter 2013 www.devon-and-cornwall-centre.org.uk

S eason’s Greetings to one and all. My first few weeks in office have been a steep learning curve, even after assisting the Secretary last year. The one re-

occurring thing that can cause problems for the Centre is the old chestnut of members not renewing their membership to the Centre when renewing their

annual membership to the Caravan Club. You can do this in three ways:

Complete and return the slip that accompanies your new membership details, update your details online at www.caravanclub.co.uk or phone 01342 326944.

Paul and his elf are busy putting the finishing touches to the 2014 Rally Book and they hope to be with you in the early New Year. They, and the Centre, need

more people to rally this year and to have each rally full. If you don’t see anything that you want to visit then think about running one yourself, even get some-

one to Steward it and you help out.

REMEMBER A RALLY IS WHATEVER YOU WANT IT TO BE

But enough of the heavy stuff-I wish you and your family all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Rallying New Year.

I would like to take this opportunity to thanks everyone for their kind messages, cards and support at the AGM in October when I became your Centre Chairman.

My sincere thanks must go to Linda & John Heal and their team for making the weekend such a success.

To Jean Hoskin for the wonderful flowers and I would also like to thank Euphine for tickling the ivories.

I would like to say a special thank-you to Rev. Bruce Dixon for conducting the Church Service.

It will make the detection of pros-tate cancer faster and easier.

Can I please ask for your support.

Our rally programme this year is varied. Thanks must go to Paul and Michele for their efforts in putting it together.

This year the Caravan Club National Rally will be held at Arley Hall in Cheshire, it would be great to see as many of you their as possible.

We also have the Rally of the Wessex over the August Bank Holiday, once again your support would be most welcome.

As another year draws to its’ close, Mary & I would like to wish each and everyone of you a very Happy Christmas and a wonderful New Year. We look forward to seeing many of you on the Rally Field in 2014.

Happy Caravanning.

Message from the Past Chairman and Consort

Those members who attended the AGM in October will know that at my Chairman's reception we did a collection for Birmingham

Childrens Hospital and specifically for Ward 8. This is where our Granddaughter has spent much of her recovery time and you will recall a collection to assist with the purchase of additional televisions for the isolation rooms.

With your generosity we were able to make a donation of £453.75, thank you once again.

THE CARAVAN CLUB NATIONAL 2014-ARLEY HALL, NORTHWICH,

CHESHIRE

Arley hall is a new venue for the National and lies in the heart of rural Cheshire and is home to Lord and Lady

Ashbrook. The Hall is situated approximately 20 miles from Manchester, Liverpool and Chester and is clearly

signposted from the M56 Junc 9/10 and the M6 Junc 19/20.

Booking could not be simpler, preferably on-line or by telephone, however booking forms are available for mem-

bers without internet access. Call 01342 336666, Mon-Friday, 9am-5.30pm. Payment with credit or debit card

only-no fees

Booking Fees

1 Adult £64.99

2 Adult £89.99

1 Adult + 2 youth £74.99

2 Adult + 2 youth £99.99

Entertainment

As usual there is a stunning programme of en-

tertainment lined up. On Friday evening, ABBA

ARRIVAL, a tribute act. On Saturday ULTIMATE

MADNESS and FAKE THAT. On Sunday a 2 hour

tribute show to the late great MICHEAL JACK-

SON. Monday night is PROMS NIGHT.

During the day there will be a variety of free entertainment, CHESHIRE DOG DISPLAY TEAM, BIRDS OF PREY, JIVE PONY!! And the BAND AND CORPS OF THE ROYAL REGIMENT OF FUSILIERS

This will be my first National and, although a

long way to go, I’m sure it will be worth the visit.

There will be many follow-on rallies, not only run by our Centre, but by many other Centres. Personally me and

John will be joining Cheshire Centre on a rally on Anglesey (never been there). While that far up north may as

well do something different.
