MOVEMENT JOINTSMovementjointsareessentialforthesuccessofmosttileinstallations.FollowrecommendationsonMovementJointsEJ171-14inthe“2014TCNAHandbookforCeramic,GlassandStoneTileInstallation.”Movementjointrequirementswillvarybasedonsubstrata,climateandsizeofinstallation.Anarchitectordesignprofessionalshouldbeconsultedwhenspecifyingtheexactnumberandlocationofeachmovementjoint.

FEATURE STRIP INSTALLATION (installingDevotionnexttothickertilematerials)WheninstallingDevotionadjacenttothickermaterials,withtheintentionofthetwotilesfinishinginthesameplane(flush),thesubstratemustfirstbebroughtuptoalevelsuchthattheglasstilecanbeinstalledwiththerecommendedamountofthin-set.Detailedinformationregardingmultiplesubstratebuild-upmethodsisavailableintheInstallationsectionofourwebsite,www.glasstile.com. Caution:Installingglasstileoverfreshexcessivelybuilt-upthin-setmortarsmayresultintilecrackingduetothin-setshrinkage.

CUTTING & DRILLINGDevotionglasscanbecuttomeetjobsitedimensionswiththeuseofahigh-qualitywettilesawequippedwithacontinuous,smooth-rim,diamondglasstilebladeorwithscoreandsnapglasscuttingtools.Tominimizechippingoftileandbackcoatings,fullysupportthetileduringcutting,cutordrillslowlyandcoolthecuttingordrillingtoolwithliberalwaterflow.

Step 1 Toinitiatethebondcoat,usetheflatsideofatrowelandfirmlyapplythin-settothesubstrate.

Step 2 Toestablishtheproperdepthofthesettingbed,usea3/16”x1/4”v-notchtroweltoapplyadditionalthin-setandcombfullnotchesinonedirection.

Step 3 Applymosaicsheetstothethin-setsettingbed,plasticfilmsideout,withlight,evenpressure.Periodically,checkthin-setforskinning(slightdrying).Ifskinningoccurs,removethin-setandreapply.

Step 4 Toachievetheflattestpossiblesurface,lightlytapthesheetswitharubbergroutfloat.Payparticularattentiontothesheet-to-sheetintersections.

Step 5 Afterafull24hours(someinstallationsmayrequireextendedcuretimes)startingatthecorner;peeltheplasticfromthetile.

Step 6 Ifnecessary,removeexcessthin-setfromthegroutjointswitharazorknifepriortogrouting.

Step 7 Applygroutperthegroutmanufacturer’sinstructions.Whengroutingwithsandedgrout,usecareduringapplicationtominimizescratching.

DevotionArtGlassMosaicsdonotneedtobesealed,however,itisbeneficialtosealcement-basedgrout.DevotioninstallationsshouldbesealedwithOceancareHighPerformancePenetratingSealer.

MAINTENANCEDevotioninstallationsshouldbemaintainedwithOceancareProducts.Forregularcleaninguseanylonscrub-brushor3Mwhitenylonscrubpadandtheappropriatecleanerlistedbelow.

TMOceancare High Performance Penetrating Sealer Hybrid Carrier Technology Penetratesandprotectsgrout,naturalstoneandotherporousmasonrymaterials.Formsaninvisible,no-sheenbarrierthatisresistanttowaterandoilandprovidessuperiorstainprotection.Lowresidue,easytouseformula.Maybeappliedtodry,damp,curedoruncuredgroutornaturalstone(seriously...immediatelyaftergrouting!).
