III. Joshua’s Farewell & Death (22-24)

• Reminds the people of God’s faithfulness“… not one of all the good promises the LORD your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.” (23:14)

• Encourages the people to serve God“… choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, … But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD ." (24:15)

“Be very strong; be careful to obey all that is written in the Book of the Law …” (23:6)

The people agree to follow God (24:16-22) (24:16-22) and Joshua sets up a stone to be a witness of the covenant between God and the people (24:23-28). (24:23-28). Joshua dies at the age of 110.

Applications on Joshua Chapter 24

General applications: (v 14-15)

1. Fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness.

2. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD => sacrifices in service (time, family, social activities, etc.)

3. If serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.

Executable application:

Start to show commitment to service by taking the pre-servants course seriously in regular attendance, completing assignments, researching topics, etc.
