About the Dhanraj Baid Jain College
Tamil Nadu Educational and Medical Trust (Team Trust) was formed in 1972 by
Jain Minority initiated by Four Founder Trustees namely 1. Shri. C.Ratanchand
Savansukha, 2. Shri. C.L.Metha, 3. Shri. Kushalchand Galada and 4. Suganmal Sri
Srimal to promote Arts, Science, Technical and Medical Education. It is established with
a primary objective of providing higher education to deserving Jain students. However,
others are also admitted without reference to religion, Caste or creed, their rights of
conscience being respected.
The Tamil Nadu Educational & Medical Trust (Team Trust) has the following
Educational Institutions.

The Jain community well known for its philanthropy, runs several educational
institutions, hostels, dispensaries, hospitals, beggar homes, pinjarapoles etc., in the city.
The starting of D.B.Jain College was the culmination of the growing aspiration of the
Jain community to run a College exclusively for Commerce subjects. It was hoped that
the College would be able to provide facilities for advanced studies in Commerce and
allied subjects and the hope has come true.

Dhanraj Baid Jain College came into being on 30th June 1972 by the
Spontaneous donation of Rs.7.5 Lakhs by Dhanraj Baid Charities Trust and Rs.2.5 Lakhs
by Sri. Champalal Savan Sukha Family Trust. The donations were provided by
Sri. C.Ratanchand Savan Sukha, Managing Trustee to promote high standard of
Commerce Oriented Education. Sri. C.Ratanchand Savan Sukha was the President and
Sri. C.L.Metha was the Secretary & Correspondent, and they continued till 1995. In
consonance with the sprit and sentiments of the College Management, it is gratifying to
note that Sri. Harish Metha the multi-dimensional personality the illustrious son of
Dr.C.L.Metha and alumnus of this College is the present Secretary and Correspondent.
The College has a team of dedicated men on its management which has always been
responsive to the growing needs of the student community in a fast changing world and
has been introducing new job oriented courses and subjects. Under their able foresighted
dynamism and unwavering commitment, the College has completed 39 years of service
and the late Founder Secretary Dr.C.L.Metha’s noble policy “No capitation fee in any
sort of form”, which is unique in the management of education, is being followed under
the secretary ship of his son Shri. Harish Metha.
Situated on a vast campus within a mile from the seashore in Jyothi Nagar,
Oggiyam Thorapakkam along the Old Mahabalipuram Road, the now famous I.T
Highway, the place is surrounded by Industrial houses and is close to the Instronic
Campus – leaders in information Technology and is near to Tidel Park (Computer
Centre).

The plan of action chalked out by the IQAC in the beginning of the year towards quality enhancement and the outcome achieved by the end of the year.

Upgradation of Networking :
The MCA Library of the College is fully computerized including office.
Activities Related to attaining Autonomy :
Remedial classes was conducted classes for the students who have secured very low marks in the examinations.
ICPP-Soft Skill Programme have also been conducted for all First Year students (U.G & P.G) to improve communication skills separately.
French Classes and Personality Development Programme was conducted for all Second year students (U.G & P.G)
Skill Development Programme was conducted for Final year students (U.G & P.G) Activities for student support programmes. Committees have been introduced for the smooth running of the College
particularly “Autonomous”. Academic Council Meeting was conducted as per the norms of the UGC
for the Autonomous College.
Extension Activities :
Staff members have been assigned Paper Valuation work in the College and different Universities.
Awareness on Health Programme was conducted. Examination Valuation Centre for Tamil Nadu Open University, Chennai. Blood Donation Camp was also conducted.

9. Dr. P.Roushini Leely Pushpam has attended an International Conference held from August 12th to 15th, 2010 at Cochin University and she has published 2 papers in the Journal of Discussion Mathematical Graph Theory and the Tamkung Journal of Mathematics respectively.

The members of the Parents Teachers Association is actively participating in the programme conducted with the support of students. Parents interaction with their teachers about their academic performance status of their children. Parents thanked the Computer Science teachers for their individual attention and special encouragement given to technical and non-technical activities to their wards.

1. SPORTS :
Our College Hockey Team won four State Level Inter Collegiate Tournaments, 4 students represented for Madras University Hockey Team. V.Shanmugam II B.Com represented for Tamil Nadu Youth State Hockey Team. Our College Kho-Kho team won six titles this year and retained Madras University Champion for 5th time in succession. Six players were represented for Madras University Kho-Kho team. Our Kabaddi team won 3 State Level and 2 District Level Inter Collegiate tournaments. R.Surendra Raja II M.A Economics represented for senior India Kabaddi team and secured, the First place in the Asian Kabaddi Championship.
a) HOCKEY :
First place in the Kanchipuram District Inter Collegiate Hockey Tournament, organized by the Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu on 03.08.2010.
First place in the PSN Trophy State Level Inter Collegiate Hockey Tournament, organized by PSN Engineering College, Tirunelveli from 01.02.2011 to 05.02.2011. F.Harvey Jason, I B.Com got the Best Player Award in this Tournament.
Second Place in the State Level Inter Collegiate Hockey Tournament, organized by Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu on 13.08.2010.
Second Place in the Buck Memorial State Level Inter Collegiate Hockey Tournament, organized by Y.M.C.A College of Physical Education on 26.08.2010. First place in the Fr.Bertram Memorial State Level Inter Collegiate Hockey Tournament, organized by Loyola College, Chennai 04.03.2011. D.Zero, II M.A., represented for Madras University in 200 mtrs and participated in the All India Inter University Athletic Meet held at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh in the month of December 2010.

IGC Camp held on 8th May 2010, at Madurai and Trichy, 8 CadetParticipated in it and on 17th March 2010, TSC and RDC trainings camps held at Kancheepuram, Our NCC cadets took part in it. CATC camp Kancheepuram conducted by 13 TN, Battalion NCC, D.Tamilmani camp senior has got First Place in Firing.
b) All India Camps in NCC :
1. On 9th August 2010, Army attachment camp at Hyderabad, our cadets took part in it.
2. On 3rd September 2010 at Utharakand trecking camp held, our cadets took part in it.

36. Activities of the Guidance and Counselling Unit & 37. Placement Services provided to students.
The placement Cell of D.B.Jain College has covered various activities in
placement training for final year students like Workshop on “Employability
Skills”, Training Program one on Skill Development, Communication Skills,
Personality Development Programme and Seminars on Career Opportunities,
Resume Writing and Interview Tips. Our Placement Cell and TCS Company had
a tie-up for conducting special training programme for SC/ST students of our
College.
The Campus Interviews were held in our College with support of
Companies like HCL, TCS, Reliance Communications. Eureka Forbes Ltd., etc.,
Around 720 students participated during the Campus Drive, finally 324
students got offer letters and many students were selected for In-plant training
followed by placement order will be issued. There are many more companies on
line to recruit our students. Some are DELL, Infosys, Wipro, Sutherland and
Allsec Technologies.
Training and Placement Cell also arranged a Faculty Development
Program for Faculties of D.B.Jain College and other Colleges and training was
provided on various modern teaching methods. More than 100 faculties
participated and got certificates.
