Task 01 1.1 Discuss the obligations of the parties of the contract in the light of construction contract. 1.1.1 Introduction The rights, responsibilities and obligations of parties employer, engineer and contractor fall into two categories. First, there are the specific duties and obligations required by the contract. These are set out in the contract documents. 1.1.3 Nature of the construction contractThe building and engineering contractors of all kinds carry out work for clients of the construction industry. This necessarily requires that the parties concerned in a particular project enter into a contract, i.e. a legal agreement to discharge certain obligations. So, as a simple example, a builder enters into a contract with the owner of a plot of land in which he undertakes to build a house complying with the owners requirements. On his part, the owner undertakes to pay the builder a stated sum of money.
