Microcystins are a group of cyclic peptides, hepatotoxins, which pose a risk to humans and animals by inhibiting protein phosphatases in the liver. Microcystins have high acute and chronic toxicity. Consequently, it is crucial to be able to determine the abundance and the identity of cyanotoxins when phytoplankton blooms. CYANOTOXINS FOR MONITORING TOXIC CYANOBACTERIA DHI offers standards of all microcystins covered by the ISO standard 20179 (Water Quality Determination of Microcystins) as ready-to-use analytical standards especially suited for calibration, e.g. of HPLC when monitoring presence of toxic cyanobacteria. The specific concentration of each lot is determined by spectrophotometer and is shown on the Certificate-of-Analysis enclosed in the shipment. The concentration is around 8-12 mg/L. The cyanotoxin standards should be stored frozen and thawed prior to use. Upon opening, the standards must be used immediately. Cyanotoxin standards are shipped under the Global National License (less sensitive products) issued by the Danish Business Authority, and may be subject to restrictions if re-exported. Microcystin-producing cyanobacteria are causing problems in freshwater

worldwide. Microcystins are a group of cyclic peptides, hepatotoxins, which

pose a risk to humans and animals by inhibiting protein phosphatases in

the liver. Microcystins have high acute and chronic toxicity. Consequently, it

is crucial to be able to determine the abundance and the identity of

cyanotoxins when phytoplankton blooms.

CYANOTOXINS FOR MONITORING TOXIC CYANOBACTERIA

DHI offers standards of all microcystins

covered by the ISO standard 20179 (Water

Quality Determination of Microcystins) as

ready-to-use analytical standards especially

suited for calibration, e.g. of HPLC when

monitoring presence of toxic cyanobacteria.

The specific concentration of each lot is

determined by spectrophotometer and is

shown on the Certificate-of-Analysis

enclosed in the shipment. The concentration

is around 8-12 mg/L.

The cyanotoxin standards should be stored

frozen and thawed prior to use. Upon

opening, the standards must be used

immediately.

Cyanotoxin standards are shipped under the Global

National License (less sensitive products) issued by the

Danish Business Authority, and may be subject to

restrictions if re-exported.
