“Management of Combat Related Injuries: Lessons from the Desert”

Goal Statement: The goal of this CE presentation is to enhance pharmacists’ general knowledge on the pharmacologic management of combat related injuries. Learning Objectives: • Identify patients who may be at risk for contracting infections due to a combat

related injury and the recommended prophylactic treatments for such patients • Understand which pharmacologic therapies are appropriate and how they are

dosed for patients who are hemorrhaging • Recognize appropriate utilization of pharmacologic therapies in the induction

and maintenance of anesthesia in trauma patients • Evaluate appropriate and inappropriate use of medications in patients with

severe head injuries
