The company was founded in 1998 witha task to design, develop & operate theregional Integrated Waste ManagementSystem (IWMS) of Western Macedonia,according to the Strategic Plan approved bythe Regional Council in 1995.

Shareholders are the Municipalitiesof Grevena, Kastoria, Florina, Kozani &Ptolemaida and the Local Unions of themunicipalities of the four prefectures ofthe region.

The IWMS of W. Macedonia includes the CentralFacilities of Integrated Waste Management which issupplied by 10 Local Waste Management Facilities(LWMF). Mixed waste is being transported and alsorecyclable materials, to serve the needs of the localcollection system. That integrated system serves theneeds of 61 municipalities of W. Macedonia and300.000 residents.

The Central Facilities of IntegratedWaste Managemt include:

(1) The Landfills 2 cells

(2) The leachate monitoring system

(3) The biogas monitoring system

(4) Other facilities (administration building,maintenance building etc)

Dump restoration works were completed in mid2007. Environmental inspections and riskassessment studies for more than 200 siteswere conducted and also technical studies forall high risk dumps. Funding was provided bythe EU for restoration works in 40 sites,

40 high risk dumpsites (cost: 9 m)

76 low risk dumpsites (cost: 3,2 m)

Restoration works for all high-riskdumps have been completed in mid-2007. Total cost have reached 9m.

91 restored low risk dumpsites financed by LocalMunicipalities (cost: 1,5 m)

The MTP has a capacity of 150.000tonnes, and it will maximize therecovery of recyclables, doubling thelandfills lifecycle.

The project is a Public PrivatePartnership (PPP) scheme and todayis at a stage of hiring a FinancialAdviser.

DIADYMA SA is moving towardsthe construction of infrastructures forwaste treatment and development.
