Whats Salsa Music? The salsa is a music genre developed by the Latin American community in New York in the early 70s. From the Boogaloo and Pachanga, genres developed in the '60s by Puerto Rican and other Latino groups in the neighborhoods of Manhattan.

History of Salsa

The first reference is found in 1928 when Ignacio Pieiro in his son "ECHALE SALSITA" he wrote in the letter the word "SALSITA" in allusion to joy. And it is said that from this, several Cuban musicians used it as synonymous of energy, vitality and joy.

Salsa incorporates the melodic elements of Jazz, Soul and Rock and Roll, and harmonic features of Cuban music and Latin folklore, using various genres based rhythmic Afro-Latinos, including Cumbia, the Full, Pump, and Merengue, and guaracha, guaguanc, mambo, cha-cha, and above all, the son montuno where it settles.
