As such, Friday 23 September (the last day of this term) will be my last day at Glenfield Public School. Working at Glenfield Public School since the beginning of 2015 has proven to be an absolute pleasure for me. The whole school community welcomed me from my first day. I am proud of all our achievements in my time at Glenfield. The growth in community participation has been wonderful. We have seen the opening of the Community Café, Skoolbag, Twitter, the painting of the school buildings by our community, parent helpers volunteering in our classrooms and recently a number of parents who have volunteered to support some of our primary students with Multilit (a reading program). Attendance at all our school functions has been fantastic. This is truly indicative of the community spirit. Cont’d

The school has grown in my time from 325 students to currently having just under 400 students. The school has a wonderful reputation in the outside community. Our students are extremely polite and enthusiastic learners who respect each other and their teachers. To walk around the school everyday and to be warmly greeted by “Good mornings and afternoons” and “How are you?” would make anyone’s day. I would also like to publicly thank all the staff at Glenfield. They are an amazingly dedicated, professional and caring group of people who have student well being and learning at the forefront of all they do. Your children couldn’t be in better hands. Glenfield Public School will always be an important part of my professional life because of the experiences I have enjoyed here but more significantly, because of the people, students, community and staff that combine to make such a wonderful school community. Thanks to all of you for the opportunity that my time here at Glenfield has afforded me. I will certainly miss Glenfield Public School! Signs and Community Gardens Thank you to the Ross family and the Lamba family for all their work on the Friendship Tree on the side of the sports storeroom. They spent many an hour after school painting and decorating. It looks terrific and reflects words that we associate with friendship – this is what our school and community are about.

A large group of our teachers stayed after school last week to begin work on our community gardens by painting them - they are nice and bright now. The ones that are not currently painted will soon be covered with Aboriginal artwork.

Keep your eyes open on the large white expanse of the toilet wall. Soon two very large artworks will be placed on the wall.

These artworks have the handprint of every student and staff member in our school and the slogan represents our multicultural school. Again staff stayed after school to complete the slogans. If you come to our assemblies, please have a look on the stage where we had a large canvas Aboriginal artwork framed and hung on the wall. This artwork was created when we had an Aboriginal performance at the school. The stage looks great with our school vision, school song, picture of the school and the artwork.

School Camp Our Stage 3 Canberra excursion returned at 7:45pm on Friday night. Everyone had a great time and the teachers report the students were well behaved and represented our school with pride. If you have Glenfield Public School’s Skoolbag App, you would have received regular updates and photos and would have known that they were running 15 minutes late when returning. Skoolbag The Skoolbag App is proving very worthwhile for the community. It has allowed us to notify you quickly when, for example, sport is cancelled. We also put on the Broadcaster, let you know about excursions and other school activities. If you have the app, encourage others to download it. Canteen Tender As I mentioned previously, our canteen operation has gone to tender. Advertisements were placed in the Macarthur Advertiser and the Daily Telegraph on 7 September 2016 and the advertisement will appear in the Macarthur Advertiser again on 14 September 2016. Tender applications close on the last day of this term. The tender process may have an impact on the canteen being open at the start of next term. I will advise you about this in the last week of term.
