Diary Dates

THANK YOU MRS CARRODUS

Jill Carrodus has announced her

retirement from teaching effective

at the beginning of Term 3. Jill has

worked tirelessly for Irymple South since 1995 when she

returned from Family Leave. In the 15 1/2 years at Irymple

South Jill has predominantly taught in Prep/One and Reading

Recovery. We thank Jill for the wonderful work she has done

with the students, parents and teachers over the years.

We will be holding a presentation and farewell school

assembly on Friday July 29th at 9.00. We would also like invite

parents to stay after assembly for a coffee and a chat.

PUPIL FREE DAY

All classroom teachers participated in Professional Learning

Friday June 17 around teaching mathematics and in

particular Space and Shape. Teachers unpacked the

importance of clear and explicit learning intentions and a

cohesive structure for mathematics lessons. We hope your

children have enjoyed the results of our learning in maths this

week.

SCHOOL SPORTS

The school sports have been rescheduled for Friday August

12. The Long Distance runs will be held on Friday August 5th.

REPORTS

Student reports will be distributed next Thursday. We will be

holding parent/student/teacher Conferences during term 3.

TOYS AT SCHOOL

Please be mindful of the toys that students are allowed to

bring to school—swords, electronic games and precious items

have no place at school.

IRYMPLE COMMUNITY PLAN

Late last year our 5/6 students together with

School Council worked with Jarrod

Delahunty to provide feedback towards a

Community Plan for Irymple. The front cover

of the plan has been designed by our

current school captains: Charlie Cooper,

Kayla Adams, Campbell Vadlja & Sarah

Garlick. Thank you to Peta Cooper who

worked closely with the students to support

the process. Jarrod has asked for feedback

on the plan. All class teachers have a copy

to explore with the students and there are

further copies available at the front office.

EARLY FINISH NEXT FRIDAY

Next Friday (the last day of Term 2) students

will be finishing at 2.30pm. Bus travellers will

be finishing at 2.10pm.

ART DISPLAY

Pop into the front office and take a look at

our new display unit. At the moment there is

a terrific display of a variety of art work that

the students have done.

UNIFORM

Please ensure that all school jumpers are

clearly NAMED. It is staggering to see the

amount of unnamed jumpers in the Lost

Property box at the moment. These jumpers

cannot be returned to their owners, and will

be sold as Second-Hand jumpers or sent to St

Vinnies at the end of the term.

It is also important that students are wearing

appropriate footwear to school. We expect students to wear black school shoes or

sneakers — this will provide your child’s feet

with the proper support. The students

participate in a number of physical activity

sessions each week and need safe, sturdy

footwear.

LATE ARRIVALS

We ask that all families ensure that children

are at school by 8.50am. This is to allow time

for students to be organised and settled for

classes, which begin promptly at 9.00am.

JUNIOR SCHOOL COUNCIL UPDATE—

CASUAL DRESS DAY

We will be having a casual dress day on the

last day of term (Friday, July 1).

A gold coin donation is required if coming in

casual clothes—please dress appropriately

for the weather! Students can hand their

donation to their JSC representatives in the

morning.

All money raised will go towards the

construction of a new down ball wall!

Thanks for your support,

JSC Representatives

SAFETY HOUSE Are you home before and after school? Then

you could be a ‘Safety House’, providing a safe

place for our children to go if they need

assistance.

Pamphlets are available at the front office, or

contact Fiona on 50 233038 for more information.

BACK TO BASICS ENVIRONMENTAL

NIGHT

We will be holding our Back to Basics Environmental

Night again this year. It will be held during Term 4,

with an exact date TBA. We are conscious of

organising things nice and early this year, with

maximum opportunity for plenty of families to help

out.

Please think about joining our committee! Just leave

your name and phone number at the front office. We

are looking for lots of new ideas, thoughts and

suggestions.

We will also be looking for items to raffle on the night.

Any suggestions or donation of goods with an

environmental theme would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Amber Morgan

CONCERT UPDATE!

Concert dates are now set for Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th of August (Term 3).

having their auditions today at school. We wish them all the best of luck!

A full list of each grade’s Concert Co-ordinators is on page 2 of today’s newsletter.

Please watch this space for more concert updates—there will be plenty to come!!
