Naumai, haere mai! Malo e lelei! Talofa! Welcome! 25 November 2018 - Christ the King

The Sentence for today:

“I am the Alpha and the Omega” says the Lord God, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty. Revelation 1:8

Collect For The Week Almighty and ever-lasting God,

your will is to restore all things in your well-beloved Son, our Lord and King:

Grant that the peoples of the earth, now divided and enslaved by sin, may be freed and brought together under his gentle and loving rule.

We ask this in his name. Amen.

This time we come to Christ the King where we can have real hope in Jesus because he is the true King. Some people cannot see the true king and go after other empires and kingdoms – I think of the Kingdom of Money or the Kingdom of Power or the Kingdom of this World. All year we have been holding Youth Group on a Wednesday in the hall from 7pm - 9pm. One of the great joys is that we have had a very consistent group this year. A group that has continued to grow together. We have taken out the Games in March with the help of the Cathedral, we have won the Dodgeball competition, we have journeyed together at Eastercamp and Discipleship Camp, and we have been encouraged by the friends that people have bought. As we wind down to the end of the year, we are reflecting on the great year it has been in the youth space and look forward to next year where we can hopefully continue to grow spiritually and numerically. Bring on 2019!

Stay up to date : If you want to keep up with what is happening in the youth space - the easiest way is on Facebook: St James Youth or St James Friday Waffles. Contact Andy (Youth Minister) if you need any more information: 021 222 6474 or [email protected]

Reading and reflecting on portions of scripture has been part of the daily rhythm for people of faith throughout the centuries. We invite you to join with us and them in connecting with God’s life in these portions of scripture, which are read throughout the world and across Christian traditions each day. May Christ, the Word, speak to you through the words and your reflections.

We are glad you are worshipping with us today. Morning tea and coffee is available after our morning services. Please stay and get to know others who worship here.

Duty Rosters The roster up to the end of January is now available. Please take a copy from the back of the church. If you find you are unable to perform a duty you are rostered for, please arrange a swap with someone and then let the office staff know so they can note the changes. Many thanks to all our duty people—you are all very much appreciated!

Could you offer Mary and Joseph a room for the night? Mary and Joseph's journey through the parish staying at a

different house each night, reminds us that we need to make room for Jesus in our lives, homes and communities.

On Advent Sunday (2 December) the Mary and Joseph figures are given to the first host during the 10.00 Eucharist Service. Every day during Advent the figures travel from one home

to another and are given a room for the night. On Christmas Eve the figures are brought back to Church.

There is a Hosts signup sheet at the back of the church. Please take part in this advent celebration.

Thank you!! Here is a huge “Thank You” to everyone for providing their availability details for the duty rosters for our Parish. The current roster up to the end of January 2019 is the last one I have prepared. Your support to me while I was helping with the roster has been truly amazing! Blessings, Lynne-Stella

Healing Services at All Saints on the First Sunday of each Month at 5pm

Do you seek to experience the healing peace of mind and wholeness of spirit that are the gifts of our amazing God? We are planning to hold a Service at All Saints, Belmont on the first Sunday of each month at 5pm. The first Healing Service will be held at All Saints Church, 5pm on Sunday 2 December. These services will include the Eucharist and healing and prayer ministry. There will also be training for anyone who wishes to become involved in the healing ministry.

Rev Valda Hancock will be presiding at our services and Rev Derek Lightbourne, former National Chaplain for the Order in New Zealand, will be providing guidance. We are really blessed that Rev Chris Low, a former National Chaplain for the Order in the United Kingdom, and her husband John, will be integral to these services while they are in New Zealand.

“As part of the Executive for the Order of St Luke the Physician in New Zealand, I feel that there is so much more that we can do within the healing ministry. Please join us to receive ministry for wholeness and healing of body, mind or spirit according to your needs. I look forward to being with you at All Saints each month.” Blessings Lynne-Stella
