DIESEL & MOTOR ENGINEERING PLC Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (previously known as Diesel & Motor Engineering Company Limited) was founded in 1939. It was founded by four entrepreneurs: Pandithage Don Alexander, Stephen Peiris, Harold Algama and Cyril Algama. The business was initially only in automobile sales and repairs. In 1964, it was converted into a Public Quoted Company by listing it at the then Colombo Brokers' Association. With beginnings as a purely automobile sales and repair in 1939, the Company has since grown in size as well as in scope of activities. Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) currently has over 1,700 employees as at March 2017 with an annual turnover of Rs. 44.4 Billion (2016/2017).

The Company has a track record of more than 78 years in the automobile and engineering industry and over the years it has made a major contribution towards the development of infrastructure and road transportation in Sri Lanka. The DIMO Academy for Technical Skills (DATS), which is the only one of its kind in the private sector, was established in 1990 and offers a two-year course designed by Mercedes-Benz and made to international standards. DIMO Projects

StadiumsDIMO was awarded the project to provide a total lighting and electrical solution for both the R. Premadasa Stadium and Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. By utilizing the synergistic products and solutions of DIMO’s Principals including Bomag, BOSCH, Fischer, Siemens and Siteco, the DIMO team of experienced engineers provided the perfect solution for players and spectators alike at both stadiums.

Sri Lanka Customs Building Fully-integrated Building Management Systems, Lighting Solutions and the Fluid Management Systems of the new Customs building were designed, supplied, installed, tested and commissioned by DIMO.

Durdans HospitalThe world-renowned Siemens Magnetom Avanto 1.5 Tesla 18 Channel MRI Scanner and the Siemens Somatom Definition AS 64-slice CT Scanner were installed by DIMO at the Durdans Hospital. While DIMO Medical Solutions designed the examination rooms for the hospital, we used Osram products to provide efficient lighting solutions. The firefighting system (hydrant and sprinkler) from KSB pumps were installed and commissioned by DIMO’s Fluid Management engineers for this project.
