  3. 3. The average Western diet does not contain enoughdietary fiber. According to the United States Department ofAgriculture, Americans average about 15 grams offiber every day, although dietary recommendationssuggest men eat between 30 and 38 grams andwomen consume 21 to 25 grams per day.
  4. 4. One of the reasons Western diets are so lacking infiber is because they are high in animal protein andprocessed foods. People who wish to change this simply have tomake slight adjustments to their diet eating thingslike fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, andwhole grains can drastically improve ones healthand increase daily fiber intake.
