Neck Deep – Wishful Thinking

Neck Deep are a Welsh pop-punk band formed in 2012.

The image on the cd cover for ‘Wishful Thinking’ released on January 14th 2014, shows a fortune teller booth, with someone about to put a coin into it. This links with the cd title ‘Wishful Thinking’, which is labelled on the booth, as the booth ‘tells the future’, and users are hopeful that their fortune will be good.

The bands name is clearly stated on the top of the fortune teller booth, making it clear to the audience who the artist is.

The background of the image shows a Ferris Wheel and another ride, suggesting the cover image is situated in a fair ground.

The image is largely based on a real fortune teller booth, ‘Zoltar Speaks’, from the film ‘Big’, which also links to a song on the album of the same name.

The fact that the image of Zoltar is edited to be scarier and darker than the original suggests that people don’t always get what they wish for, which links to the cd title ‘Wishful Thinking’.

The image of the centre of the cd & vinyl shows continuity due to the same image being used as the one on the cover.

The image is zoomed in to highlight the fortune tellers face, which draws the audience to his bright red eyes. There is further emphasised due to the contrast between the dark red colours of the centre compared with the cream colour that surrounds the image.

The back cover of the cd shows continuity, due to the use of a similar image to the one on the front cover. The image used is the same as the one on

The bands name is also on the back of the digipak, making it clear again who the artist is.

The use of a light coloured background is good as it means that the text, for example the song names, can be easily read.

The back of the cd also includes important information such as copyright and the record company.
