• Digital Citizenship: Using the Internet and social media in a responsible & ethical way• Digital LEADERSHIP: Using the Internet and

social media to improve the lives, well-being and circumstances of others (Couros)

Digital Citizen: This alert came up on your neighbor’s screen so you reported the behavior to your teacher.

Digital Leader: This alert came up on your neighbor’s screen so you struck up a conversation and found out he was trying to access a local meteorologist’s Facebook page for his climate change research project. You found an interview with the same meteorologist on TeacherTube and shared it with the class. Your teacher posted the link on Canvas so all students researching that concept could receive support.

A few friendly reminders…• Passwords and passcodes are private• The Internet is part of the real world,

and choices you make there will affect your life• Social Media- think…would you be

okay with your grandma seeing what you’ve posted? • Charge your laptop at night- you both need a rest!• Be smart and be safe

Acceptable Use Policy Facts• It is a violation of the Acceptable Use Policy to download

games or change security settings/restrictions• Broken keys usually result in a $5 fine• Lost power supplies are $35 to replace, even if someone else

loses it for you• For those who are part of the VPS Assurance Plan, any other unintentional damage will be covered, meaning you don’t need to pay a fine• For those without the VPS Assurance Plan, a lost or stolen

laptop will result in a $1030.00 fine; stolen laptops need a police report within 24 hours• If you are unsure whether or not you paid for the plan, ask

our wonderful secretaries!
