CHILD STUDIES Students learn about children’s growth and development from conception to 8 years and critically examine attitudes and values about parenting and care-giving and gain an understanding of the growth and development of children.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY Students learn and apply skills in digital photography, design and photo editing software.

DIGITAL VIDEO Students gain practical skills and knowledge in the craft of film making. They learn how to shoot, capture, edit and distribute video using consumer and industry standard equipment and software

GEOGRAPHY Geography deals with diverse environmental phenomena and human activities, including population, landforms, tourism, globalisation, resources, agriculture, hazards and urban planning. Students develop an understanding of the spatial interrelationships between people, places and environments.

PSYCHOLOGY The study of psychology enables students to understand their own behaviours and the behaviours of others. Psychological knowledge can be applied to improve outcomes and the quality of experience in various areas of life, such as education, intimate relationships, child rearing, employment and leisure.

RESEARCH PROJECT In the Research Project students choose a research topic that is based on an area of interest, and one or more capabilities (Literacy, Numeracy, Information and Communication Technology Capability, Critical and Creative Thinking, Personal and Social Capability, Ethical Understanding and Intercultural Understanding).

Students use the research framework as a guide to developing their research and applying knowledge and skills specific to their research topic. They create an outcome, evaluate the research processes used and reflect on the relevance of the chosen capability (or capabilities) to themselves and their research project.

CREATIVE ARTS - STAGE, SCREEN AND DRAMA Students explore acting techniques and apply skills gained in a project of their choice. Drama also provides the flexibility to explore other areas such as production, direction or script design.

ENGLISH STUDIES Students read a range of extended texts and a number of shorter texts from past, contemporary, and everyday contexts. They focus on the skills and strategies of critical thinking needed to interpret texts.

GEOLOGY Students design and conduct geological investigations and gather evidence from fieldwork, experiments, and research. They have the opportunity to engage with the work of practising geologists. This course is part of the GeoFutures program with links to the mining and exploration industry.

LEGAL STUDIES Students learn about the Australian legal system from the local level to its global connections, its origins and functions. Students learn how laws are made and enforced and the legal issues affecting Australian citizens.

NUTRITION Students explore up-to-date scientific information on the role of nutrients in the body as well as on social and environmental issues related to nutrition. The study of nutrition assists students to reinforce or modify their own diets and lifestyle habits to maximise their health outcomes.

WEDNESDAY 4.00 - 7.00PM

CLASSICAL STUDIES Students study the Greek and Roman classical worlds, including literary texts from the period and an area of the classical world that interests them.

FOOD AND HOSPITALITY Students learn about the impact of the food and hospitality industry on Australian society and examine the contemporary and changing nature of the industry. They develop relevant knowledge and skills as consumers and/or as industry workers.

SPECIALIST MATHEMATICS Students gain the insight, understanding, knowledge, and skills to follow pathways that will lead them to become designers and makers of technology. The subject provides pathways into mathematical science, engineering, computer science, physical sciences, surveying, economics and commerce.

TOURISM Students develop an understanding of the nature of tourists, tourism and the tourism industry. They investigate local, national and global tourism, and explore tourism as a business. Students gain an understanding of the complex economic, social, cultural and environmental impacts of tourism.

GENDER STUDIES Students look at the world from the perspectives of women and examine the construction of gender and how being a woman or a man may influence an individual’s experiences and expectations. They explore the diversity of women’s experiences and their relationships to others. They also study gender representation in cultural texts.
