INTRODUCTION TO THE MANUAL


OBJECTIVE

This training manual aims at imparting comprehensive training on installation of

NPR application software. The software can be installed in Client Server

Environment as well as in Stand-alone mode.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The training manual has been designed assuming that the person responsible for

installing the software has technical background. The manual focuses on the

installation of the application software solely.

ORGANIZATION OF THE MANUAL

Introduction: This manual contains all the steps and settings required for

installing the application software. Prerequisites for making the software

operation have been listed separately for both the environments.

1.1. Hardware Requirement

- 2.6 GHz or higher

- Dual core CPU or higher

- 2GB RAM or higher

- 160 GB HDD

- 100Mbps NIC

1.2. Software Requirement

- Windows XP Professional Service Pack2 (32 bit OS)

- NPR Application software

1.3. Installation of Software

In order to install the NPR Application software, the computer should be pre-loaded with

Windows XP professional with service pack 2 (32-bit OS).

On inserting the CD, the CD will play automatically and Fig. 4-1 will be the first screen

to appear on computer screen.

If the CD does not run automatically, click on client-server setup file as shown below,

from within ECIL folder.

Press Server-Machine-Setups Button from this screen to start Server side software

installation.

Server Setups screen (Fig. 4-2) containing buttons for installing all the software required

for the application opens up.

Start installing software by pressing buttons in the sequence given in the screen.

From Server Setups Screen (Fig. 4-3), press MySql-Server-5.1 button to start installing

MysSql Server.

If MysSql-Server is already installed on the machine, it must first be uninstalled using the

same button (the option for uninstalling will appear on pressing this button if MySql-

Server is already installed).

Note: After uninstalling, please check MySql-Server in add/remove program, if it is

listed there, uninstall from this list also.

On clicking MySQL Server 5.1, following screen will appear, press next button to

continue.

From the next screen click on typical or complete as shown below.

Windows will start installing MySQL Server 5.1. It will take few minutes.

After some time, following screen will appear. Click next button to continue.

Again click Next button of appearance of following screen.

On successful completion, following message will appear. Make sure that checkbox

„Configure the MySQL Server now” is checked. Press Finish to continue.

Installation will start configuring MySQL Server. Following screen will appear and press

Next button.

On click next Button, it will ask „Detailed Configuration‟ or Standard Configuration‟.

Check the radio button of ‟Detailed Configuration‟ and press next button as shown

below.

Next screen will ask the choice of MySQL instance. Select „Server Machine‟ and click

next. This will serve the purpose of both desktop and client server applications.

Click on the next button on appearing next screen as shown below.

Afterward, following screen will appear, press simply next button.

On the next screen, depending upon number of current connections, a particular choice is

selected. By default DSS/OLAP has 20 concurrent connections. If different number is

required, select appropriate number of connection from the dropdown combo. Press next

button to continue.

On appearing next screen, make sure that both the check boxes are checked. Press next

button to continue.

On click of next button as shown in above screen, following screen appear. Select utf8

from combo box as character set and then press next to continue.

Next step is to check „Install As windows Service‟ and „Launch the MySQL server

automatically, then press next button to continue.

After that following screen will appear. Enter the root password and confirm it. Default

password is *npr@1#.

Tick checkbox „Enable root access from remote machines‟ if you want access this on

network. Tick it especially when installing MYSQL for client server application. Press

next button to continue.

On successfully completion, control will comme on main screen.

2. Datbase Creation

Next component in the installation process is to create database. Click on the button

labeled with „2. Database Creation‟ on the main screen. It will create database npr_db in

MySQL. After creation, a message of „Database Created Successfully‟ will appear as

shown below.

2. Create Shared Folder

Next component is to create shared folder. This shared folder contains configuration files,

backup files, images etc. When standalone application is required, simply create folder.

In case of client server mode, first create folder and then make it shared using windows

explorer so that all the clients accessing server be able to access configuration and

images. On clicking the button labeled „3. Create Shared Button‟ application will ask to

select folder. If it is not created earlier, click on „Make New Folder‟ and rename it as

shown below. After this press „OK‟.

Click on Back button to move on to main screen and click on client setup.

Client-Setups

If standalone application is being installed, client setup is to be done at same machine

where server installation is done, but if using client-server environment, client setup has

be done at clients (desktops) individually. Steps remain same.

Three components are to be installed.

1. JRE 1.6

2. CDA-Font Installation

3. Application

Install the three components in this order.

On click on „1. JRE 1.6‟ button‟, application will install Java Runtime Environment.

Simply click on install on appearing following screens.

After installation of JRE, click on second button to install regional font. After installation,

following message on screen will appear.

Press on ok button to move on main screen again. Press third button to install application.

On successful installation following message will appear.

Click ok button and then exit button of the main screen to come out of installation

process.

Configuring Application

After the installation, an icon or NPR will appear on desktop. When you click it on first

time, following window will appear. It asks the configuration file location. This folder

must be same as that of created in case of „Create Shared Folder‟ option. If it is desktop,

it should be physical path as shown below.

In case of client-server installation type shared folder of server on network starting with

„\\‟ .

After finding folder, application will ask login password. Once the folder is selected

first time, application will not ask it for again during subsequent clicks on NPR icon.

Following screen will appear. First time, enter login as „config‟ and password as „config‟.

Press login button.+

It has three steps:

1. Configuration

2. Organization Setting

3. Administrator Management

Configuration

All the three are to be done in sequential manner. By default screen to setup

server is shown. It sets following parameters.

Database Type: Default is MySQL

Database Server IP: It should be address of the server where database is

residing, if client server mode is being used. In case of desktop where

client and server applications both resides, it should be localhost or

127.0.0.1.

Port : Default port is 3306.

Username: User name of MySQL. In our setting we are using „root‟.

Password: This is password of the root user of MySQL. We set it as

*npr@1# .

Database Name: Select npr_db from the combo box.

File Sharing Lacation: This is location of shared folder of server in case

of client-server environment. This will be local path of machine if

standalone environment is set.

Tiff Images Path Name: This is sub-folder „tiff_images‟ under shared

folder.

Backup Folder Path Name: This is sub-folder „backups‟ under shared

folder where backup will be stored.

Config File Location Name: This is sub-folder „appconfig‟ under shared

folder where config file will be stored.

After setting, click on next button.

Organization Setting

Following screen will appear to set organization.

Following parameters are set:

State Name

Language

After setting, click on “Update & Continue >>” to move on to step 3

Administrator Management

Through this screen, administrator users are created. The following screen will

appear.

This screen has four tabs: New administrator; Update; Delete; and Operator

Status.

To create new administrator, Fill the form completely and press „save‟ button.

Update tab is used to update profile of administrator and to change password.

Delete tab is used to delete administrator user.

Operator status is used to unlock user and to know the status of operator where he

is working or not.

Press „close‟ to exit.
