    Grand Valley State (Mich.) Secures Top Spot in theFinal Division II Learfield Sports Directors Cup Standings;

    GLIAC Places Two Institutions in the Top 10

    CLEVELAND Grand Valley State (Mich.) secured its eighth straight Learfield Sports DirectorsCup, finishing with a total of 1057.50 points after winning the womens outdoor track & fieldnational championship. The Lakers also turned in finishes of seventh in baseball, ninth in softballand 16

    thin mens outdoor track & field.

    Central Missouri finished in the runner-up spot, its highest-ever finish in Directors Cup history,with 779.75 total points. The Mules finished sixth in womens outdoor track & field, seventh inbaseball and eighth in mens outdoor track & field.

    Augustana (S.D.) finished in third place with 761.50 points after earning additional points throughfinishes of ninth in softball, 10

    thin womens outdoor track & field, 12

    thin mens outdoor track &

    field and 37th

    in baseball.

    In fourth place with 718.00 points is Abilene Christian (Tex.). The Wildcats took home the mensoutdoor track & field national crown, while also finishing 29

    thin womens outdoor track & field.

    Rounding out the top five is Adams State (Colo.). The Grizzlies garnered results of second inmens outdoor track & field and third in womens outdoor track & field to finish out the year with696.00 total points.

    The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) closes out the year with two ofits member institutions in the top 10. GLIAC institutions in the top 10 include first place GrandValley State (Mich.) and ninth place Ashland (Ohio).

    All 11 spring NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing

    titles: baseball West Florida; womens golf Nova Southeastern (Fla.); mens golf Cal StateMonterey Bay; womens lacrosse Adelphi (N.Y.); mens lacrosse Mercyhurst (Pa.); womensrowing Western Washington; softball UC San Diego; womens tennis Barry (Fla.); menstennis Valdosta State (Ga.); womens outdoor track & field Grand Valley State (Mich.); mensoutdoor track & field Abilene Christian (Tex.).

    The Learfield Sports Directors Cup was developed as a joint effort between the NationalAssociation of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awardedbased on each institution's finish in up to 14 sports -- seven womens and seven mens.
