We are excited to announce the recent launch of our new and improved website! It features much of the same information but offers a fresh look, elegant features and eye-catching organization. We believe the new look reflects the mission and atmosphere of our school, strengthens our identity, and helps the community relate to and recognize us more clearly.

The process of re-designing began almost a year ago. The development team researched hundreds of other sites and met to discuss what our students, fami-lies, faculty and staff want from our website, how this site should be organized to be navigated more easily, and how to promote the message of our school while making ourselves more attractive and accessible to everyone.

On May 20, 2010, with the quiet push of a few buttons, the improved

version of WestburyChristian.Org was activated and launched into the depths of cyberspace.

The site is best viewed with the most recent versions of inter-net browsers (Internet Explorer 8, Firefox 3.6, Safari 5). Information is divided into categories, depending on who you are: Current Wildcats and Alumni for past or present members of the WCS family, Admissions and About Us for pro-spective families and visitors.

After months of coding and designing we are still adding to the site and are connecting the old version to the new. If you have trouble finding something, please use the Google search box at the top left of most pages. We thank you for bearing with us as we rush to complete all these updated areas and we hope that you will explore and enjoy what you find on our new website!

Class of 2010 Honored at May 21st Graduation

Westbury Christian School held their largest graduation cer-emony in the school’s 35 year history on May 21, 2010. After the senior video and the processional of faculty, 77 students in tradi-tional cap and gown entered the gymnasium greeted by applause from family and friends. Seniors Kelsey Haynie and Philip Zamora opened the ceremony with the pledge of allegiance and invocation respectively. Several presentations followed includ-ing the naming of Jon Scott as Mr. WCS and Devin Chance as Miss WCS for their commitment to the values and qualities that embody Westbury Christian School. Additionally, the senior class chose to participate in the tradition of giving a senior gift to the school in the form of a new lectern with the school crest. Senior class president, Luke Aschermann, made the presentation of the lectern and also took part in the passing of the senior Bible from his class to the incoming senior class of 2011 accepted by senior class president-elect Aaron Boyd.

Yingge “Ingrid” Guan in her salutatorian address reminded fellow graduates of the people and events that are the memories of their time together at WCS. Chenwei “Annie” Pan delivered the valedictory address talking about her transition to studying in the United States and the growth academically and socially that she

has undergone during her time here. She further encouraged her classmates to strive to do their best as they go on to college.

Mr. Greg Glenn, Head of School, gave a brief statement about his mentor, Dr. Don Meyer, before a recording, originally aired in July 2009 when Meyer was named the winner of the Jimmy V. Perseverance award at the ESPN ESPY’s, was shown to the graduation attendees. The video chronicled legendary Coach Meyer’s career as the head basketball coach at Lipscomb University and Northern State University, the car accident that almost ended his life, and his diag-nosis and battle with cancer.

When asked why Meyer had been selected to speak at WCS graduation Glenn stated, “Coach Meyer has been a mentor to thousands of young men he has coached over his 38 year coach-

ing career. My hope is that our graduating seniors will be inspired to work hard and to make a

difference in the lives of others no matter what trials they may go through in life.”

The presentation of diplomas by Glenn, a Bible for each senior, given by the elders of the Westbury Church of Christ, was followed by the special presentation of roses to the mothers with musical accompaniment by seniors Victoria Apenteng, Courtney Eagleton, Gina Rosolino, Jessica Webster, and Ingrid Guan, pianist. A benediction by Mr. Kelvin Brown with a recessional of the faculty and graduates finished the evening and the senior year for the class of 2010.

Thank You!

Gifts to the WCS Annual Fund Drive are critical in helping us bridge the gap between the tuition collect-ed from families and the amount needed to operate the school annually. Once again this year the Board of Trustees and employees supported this effort with

100% participation.

A special effort was started this year, which we know will grow in the years to come, to also gain participa-

tion from each of our student’s families.

This year we surpassed our $200,000 goal because of your gifts. Thank you to all of our donors!

Contributions to WCS by Class

The 2010 Charlie Ward Tribute to Excellence focuses on our Uncommon

Community with the support of the Brays Oaks Management District.

The Uncommon Community campaign is the continuation of a dream and is moving forward with the assistance of dedicated people who are passionate about serving youth. This effort is designed to fulfill the school's strategic plan of a Westbury Christian School athletic complex and to further influence the lives of people in the Southwest Houston area. This project will also provide WCS with facilities to match the excellent athletic programs that already exist but are conducted on other leased fields. While the campaign plan outlines the need for athletic facilities and improvements, the actual beneficiary of the campaign lies in the impact on children and youth.

We are currently in the process of raising money and securing the property that will be used to turn this dream into a reality. We recognize that it will only happen if God wills it and we do our part in planning and stewarding over it in a way that honors Him. The plan is to secure funding and to purchase land as close as possible to the existing campus in the Brays Oaks area.
