It is our great pleasure to announce Donostia International Workshop on Energy, Materials, and Nanotechnology (DINEMN), which will take place in San Sebastian, Spain from 1st till 4th September, 2015. It is our hope that the tradition of holding international scientific events in San Sebastián will continue. During the past 15 years we organized several international conferences, such as Magnetism of Nanophase materials (1998), Recent Research on Novel Magnetic Structures and Their Applications (2000), International Workshop on magnetic wires (2001), Third Joint European Magnetic Symposia, JEMS-2006, International Workshop on magnetic wires (2008), Recent Trends on Nanomagnetism, Spintronics and Applications (RTNSA-2011) and Donosita International Conference on Nanoscaled Magnetism and Applications (DICNMA 2013).

We invite all members of the international scientific community interested in new developments in Energy, Materials, and Nanotechnology to attend and to submit their latest findings to DINEMN 2015. The conference will provide a range of oral and poster presentations, invited talks and symposia, and exhibits reviewing the latest developments in Materials, Energy and Nanotechnology.

Selected (after peer-review) papers from the conference will be published in various ISI and Scopus indexed journals (Physica Status Solidi (a), IEEE Magnetics Letters and Metallurgical and Materials Transactions E). Only one paper per registered participant will be published.

We cordially invite you to attend the conference, actively participate in its technical sessions, and contribute to the continued success of this conference series. Up-to-date information on all aspects of the conference will appear soon on the conference webpage: http://www.dicnma.com/en/index.html.

The site of this conference is San Sebastian, a friendly, cosmopolitan, city on the beach of the

Basque Gulf, capital of the Guipúzcoa (Province of the Basque Country, Spain). San Sebastian,

nestled between the Coast Mountains and the Basque Gulf, is well known as a resort, for its

majestic natural beauty and for its gastronomy. It is frequently ranked as one of the "best

cities to live in" and is certainly a beautiful destination to visit. San Sebastian has been selected

as the European Capital of Culture 2016. On behalf of the DINEMN organizers, we look forward

to seeing you in San Sebastian and to join an exciting and enjoyable conference.

Sincerely,

DINEMN 2015 Organizing Committee

Location: Basque Gastronomy Society, Old Town of San Sebastian

Meeting point: Santa Maria Church

Time: 20:00 h

Duration: 2 hours

Notes: Limited capacity.

Ordizia’sIdiazabal Cheese Association offers to all Conference participants a unique cheese tasting experience due to its importance in the economy of the region (especially in the city of Ordizia, main activity of many shepherds). The activity will be leaded by a member of the Tasting Official Committee of Idiazabal Cheese PDO Protected Denomination of Origin.

During the tasting explanation a piece will be traditionally prepared by one of the Ordizia’s cheese competition winning shepherds.

Donostia´s Gastronomy

The basque gastronomy is internationally recognized thanks to the “pintxos” –miniature size elaborated dishes– and its reputation is represented in the province of Guipuzcoa by holding 16 Michelin Star awards, not only for pintxos bar and restaurants but in normal-size gastronomy. Some of the most well-known Basque Restaurants holding the awards and located in San Sebastian are Arzak, Akelarre, Martín Berasategui, Mugaritz, Kokotxa or Mirador de Ulía. If you want to get more restaurant names or extended information about them, you can check out the current awarded restaurants atthe WebSitehttp://www.viamichelin.com/web/Restaurants by choosing the option “Michelin-starred restaurants”.

The local gastronomy gives a very important insight about San Sebastian`s culture. Therefore, to experience a pintxo’s route is one of the musts you have to enjoy if you visit San Sebastian. Getting out and taking some pintxo’s or side-orders is something very natural for local people as lunch or snack, either because of leisure or work. They are similar to Spanish tapas and usually taken standing-up around large wood or metal counters fixed to walls, but you will also find bars with some tables to have a sit and palate your chosen delicacies.

PINTXOS ROUTE TO EXPERIENCE ON YOUR OWN

Pintxo’s bar and restaurants are located side by side in some neighbourhood as the Old Town, the city centre, Gros or Antiguo, so even if you don’t own any guided map with addresses where you could have a delicious snack, in these areas you only have to go with the flow and be guided by your sight and your smell. The kitchens are usually open for pintxos and side-orders from 12h to 15h at lunch, and from 19h to 21h.

Drinks

Pintxos are taken with something to drink: the most common requested alcohol-based beverages are a “caña” (smaller than pint of beer), a “zurito” (half a “caña”) or a wine (red, white or rosé). If white wines are to your liking, we suggest you to try the typical white wine “txakolí”. Cider is also another local product you can taste. In difference with other provinces of Spain, in the Basque Country spirits are served in a wide glass, except wines.
