4 Assembly and installation

4.1 Pump assembly

The pump is delivered with a mounting plate. The mounting plate can be mounted vertically,e.g. on a wall, or horizontally, e.g. as on a tank. It takes only a few quick steps to firmlysecure the pump to the mounting plate by means of a slot mechanism. The pump can easily be released from the mounting plate for maintenance.

4.1.1 Requirements

- The mounting surface must be stable and must not vibrate.- The direction of dosing should be vertically from bottom to top.

4.1.2 Align the mounting plate and install it.

- Vertical installation: The mounting plate slot mechanism must be on top.- Horizontal installation: The mounting plate slot mechanism must be opposite the

dosing head.- The mounting plate can be used as a drilling template; for drill hole distances, see

above figure.

Attaching the mounting plate

CautionTake care that no cables or lines are damaged during installation!

1. Mark the drilling holes.2. Drill the holes.3. Secure the mounting plate with four screws (5 mm diameter), to the wall, on the

6 Operation

6.1 Operating elements

Adjustment knobUse the capacity adjustment knob to set the dosing capacity in percent of the maximumdosing flow of the pump. Due to the logarithmical increase of the percent values, even smalldosing capacities can be set accurately.

Mechanical lockThe mechanical lock protects the set dosing capacity against unauthorised manipulation. Forlocking, tighten the screw until the adjustment knob cannot be turned anymore.

Keys and LEDsWhen pressing and holding down the deaeration key, the pump doses at 100 % for a certaintime. The deaeration key can be used e.g. for deaeration. The operation mode switch is used to change between the ’Manual’ and ’Pulse’ modes (seechapter.6.2 "Operating modes"). Depending on the current mode, the respective status LEDis active ("Pulse" = upper LED; "Manual" = lower LED).The status LEDs indicate the following operating states and faults:

6.2 Operating modes

The following operating modes are available:

Manual, see chapter 6.2.1

Pulse, see chapter 6.2.2)

6.2.1 Manual

In this operation mode, the pump doses constantly the dosing quantity set by the adjustmentknob.

The setting range is dependent on the pump type:

Type Setting range [l/h]

DDE 6-10 0.0060 – 6

DDE 15-4 0.0150 - 15

6.2.2 Pulse

In this operating mode, the pump adds the set dosing quantity for each incoming (potential-free) pulse, e.g. from a water meter. There is no direct connection between incoming pulsesand dosing strokes. The pump automatically calculates the optimum stroke frequency fordosing the set volume per pulse.

The calculation is based on:- the frequency of external pulses- the set stroke volume in percent

The dosing quantity per pulse is set to a value between 0.1% and 100% of the stroke volumeusing the adjustment knob.

The setting range is dependent on the pump type:

Type Setting range [ml/pulse]

DDE 6-10 0.0008 - 0.81

DDE 15-4 0.0016 - 1.58

The frequency of the incoming pulses is multiplied by the set dosing quantity. If the pumpreceives more pulses than it can process at the maximum dosing flow, it runs at themaximum stroke frequency in continuous operation. Excess pulses will be ignored.

Note:To achieve the maximum dosing capacity, we recommend the following setting fordinotec measurement and control devices (also dinotecNET ready and AquaTouch), ifthey are set to pulse frequency:

Type Frequency (pulses/h) atcontrol unit

6.3.1 External stop

The pump can be stopped via an external pulse, e.g. from a control center. When activatingthe external stop pulse, the pump switches from the operating condition "Running" to the"Standby" mode. The respective status LED lights yellow according to the selected mode.

Warning:Frequent disengagement from the mains voltage, e.g. via a relay, can result in damageto the pump electronics and to the breakdown of the pump. The dosing accuracy isalso reduced as a result of internal start-ip processes.Do not use the mains voltage for control of the pump for dosing purposes. To startand stop the pump, use only the "External stop" function!

6.3.2 Empty warning

To monitor the level in the tank, a one-level signal measurement (empty warning) can beconnected to the pump. The pump responds to the signal in the following ways:

- Active Status LED lights red- Pump stops

Warning:When the tank is filled up again, the pump restarts automatically!

6.3.3 Changing the contact type
