Diode Challenges with Alta®

Modular Laser System Solutions

P/N 930-0000001 RevD

Challenge Diode Alta® MLS Solution

Cutting Speed

• Diodes cut slower than an Elec-trosurge or scalpel

• Multiple passes are needed for deep incisions

• The laser can safely provide up to 25 Watts of power, with pulse duration of 5 µs - 50 ms allowing for rapid, single-pass cutting us-ing TOP® Surgery

Cutting Width

• Diodes cut slightly wider than an Electrosurge: 0.3 - 0.5 mm depending on the diameter of the fiber

• 400 µm and 320 µm fibers come standard with the Alta®-ST

• An optional 200 µm fiber is available for high-precision cut-ting and Endodontic procedures

Heat Damage

• Heat damage to surrounding soft tissue is often greater than the quick-cutting Electrosurge

• Diodes leave “ragged” edges with tissue tags

• Novel Automatic Power Control (APC™) technology prevents excess collateral tissue dam-age and scarring

• Cuts tissue quickly & smoothly like a CO2 laser with greater tac-tile control and no snag or drag

• Temperature control minimizes over heating of dental implants, connective tissue or bone

Tip Initiation

• No method consistently initiates the tip every time

• Initiation steps must be per-formed repeatedly until the tip appears blackened

• The TOP® Tip with the propri-etary and computer-controlled SureStep™ tip initiation pro-cess provides a consistent and reproducible tip initiation

Training

• Results depend on clinician’s ability to perceive & adjust to the diode’s performance during a procedure

• APC™ continuously monitors & adjusts the laser power in real time to precisely maintain a constant tip temperature inde-pendent of the dentist’s hand speed

What is TOP® Surgery?

The TOP® Tip continuously converts the majority of the initial monochro-matic diode laser power into Thermo-Optical Power, a combination of thermal power and polychromatic light with wavelengths in the range of 1,400-11,000 nm. These wavelengths have tissue effects similar to those of a CO2 laser, known for its excellent soft tissue cutting and coagulation capabilities. The result, the TOP® Tip cuts faster and cauterizes tissue for hemostasis more effectively.

Like cruise control on a car, APC™ continuously monitors and adjusts the laser power to maintain the user-defined temperature at the TOP® Tip for minimal heat damage and ease of use

Alta®-ST Modular Laser SystemThe Next Generation of Soft Tissue LasersTM

Dental Soft Tissue Surgery ReinventedTM with the Alta®-ST MLS

This breakthrough Thermo-Optically Powered (TOP™) Surgery technology is all about op-timizing photo-thermal laser-tissue interaction

• TOP® Tip: Consistently converts laser power into thermo-optical power in the 1,400 - 11,000 nm range

• SureStepTM Tip Initiation: A proprietary and computer controlled tip initiation process that reproducibly creates a high-fidelity TOP® Tip

• Automatic Power Control (APCTM): Con-tinuously monitors and adjusts laser pow-er to maintain user-defined temperature at the TOP® Tip for minimal heat damage and ease of use

• AutoStopTM: An intelligent sensing mech-anism that detects any abrupt stop in tip movement and automatically shuts off the laser to avoid tissue overheating

The Only Dental Laser You Will Ever NeedTM

• Multiple application modules designed for all of your current soft tissue and future practice needs

• Powerful 25 W semiconductor laser with short pulses (5 µs - 50 ms) that meet or exceed the competition

• Automatic Power Control (APC™), Fixed Power (CW) and Pulsed Modes available

• Lightweight and portable with table base and wall mount options available

• Large 7” interactive touch screen with easy to learn intuitive software navigation

• Ability to create, name and save dozens of user defined procedure settings (Favor-ites)
