In Mexico there are two main seasons. The rainy season through most of Mexico falls roughly from May to September. During the rest of the year there is little or n o rain.

The Currency in MexicoMexicans currency is measured in peso and centavos. Pesos are whole units, similar to U.s dollars. Centavos are fraction of dollars in the same way cents are of dollars. Pesos are usually paper money and centavos are coins. Pesos are measured differently 1,2,5,10 and 100 pesos can be found in a coin form. Paper notes begin at 20pesos and go up to about 1000 peso.

Geography

Mexico is bordered by the United States to the north and Belize and Guatemala to the southeast. Mexico is about one- fifth the size of the U.S. In the east are the gulf of Mexico and the Bay of Campeche which is forms by Mexico’s other peninsula, the Yucatan. The center of Mexico is a great, high plateau, open to the north, with mountain chains on the east and west and with ocean-front lowlands beyond.

Mexico’s Economy

Mexico is classified the world bank as an upper-middle country. Poverty is widespread, and high rates of economic growth are needed to create legitimate economic opportunities for new entrants to the work force. The Mexican economy grew by more than 5% in 2010 after the sharp recession in 2009.

Agriculture

Agriculture represents only 3.9% of GDP (2006 est.). Mexican labor force is estimated at 38 million of which 18% is occupied in agriculture, 24% in the industry sector and 58% in the service sector (2003 est.).

Principal Export

Oil is Mexico’s main export and largest generator of foreign income in the country. Mexico is the sixth largest oil producing country in the world. Producing 3.7 million barrels daily. In fact the production of oil is regulated by the Mexican government with private companies handling the production and shipping of oil.

In Mexico there are many different types of music like Noteno, Banda, Cumbia, Latin alterative music and Rock.

Special holidays in Mexico are Cinco de Mayo, EL Grito de Independecia, and Los Dias de los Muertos

Mexico’s flag

On the flag there are the colors green, white and red with an eagle holding a snake in it’s mouth. The green stands for the land where the Mexican fought the war. White stands for the purity of the people. Red stands for all the blood the people lost during the war. The eagle eating the snake means that the god of the Aztecs told the Aztecs that they where ever found an eagle eating a snake that that’s where they are going to live.

Representative figure

José María Velasco Mexican painter. He was the most representative figure of Mexican academic painting in the 19th century. In his work the main theme was the spectacular natural scenery of his own country, specially the Valley of Mexico. He first painted the view of the "Valley of Mexico" from the hill of Santa Isabel and painted repeatedly the same subject throughout his life (9 times in total).

Velasco studied with Eugenioo Landesio. He entered the art academy of San Carlos in 1858. His paintings, won first place at the Paris exposition (1889). He also received the gold medal of the National Expositions of Bellas Artes in 1874 and 1876, and the gold medal of the Philadelphia's International Exposition in 1876. His pictures are quiet and serene. He painted more than 400 oils and worked also in pencil and watercolor.
