Dear Parent,

Exams and grades are temporary, but education is permanent.

September was an eventful month with an array of educational, learning, fun and exciting

activities on one hand and the first term examinations for the students of Grade V, VI and

VII on the other hand. While the senior classes concentrated on their examinations, the rest

of the school engaged themselves in various informative and entertaining tasks.

Teaching is not a profession, it's a blessing!! No job in the world can make you feel so

special and loved. The month kick started with a heartwarming programme conducted by

the students of Grades V, VI and VII on the eve of Teachers Day on 1st September. It was a

surprise for all the teachers of DPS-Miyapur, as the students organized the whole

programme by themselves. The programme was a wonderful blend of a medley of songs,

an amazingly choreographed dance number, an amusing skit by the students wearing the

shoes of the teachers, fun activities like, quiz and games with the teachers and an inspiring

speech on Dr Radhakrishnan and the importance of Teachers day. It was a proud moment

for all the teachers to watch them performing and executing the event so effortlessly and

diligently. The amount of love, affection, and care the children showered on the teachers is

beyond words!! It has been rightly said, that to the world you may just be a teacher, but to

your students, you are a Hero.



As part of DPS-Miyapur’s campaign towards the promotion of healthy food habits, Grade

I students put up different stalls to spread the benefits of healthy food on 1st September,

2017. All the five sections of Grade I participated enthusiastically. They explained the

benefits of sprouts in our diet, shared the benefits of dairy products. Spread awareness

about the advantages of fruit juices, took up the challenge of explaining the benefits of

vegetable salad and finally explained the benefits of fruit salad intake in our diet. The

program concluded with students distributing sheets containing different recipes amongst

the audience.

Rhymes play a vital role in the development of language and communication skills of a

child especially a kindergartener. Keeping this in mind, a Rhyme and Rhythm

Competition for class LKG was organized on 6th September, 2017. The topic for the

competition was their favourite person‘ MOTHER’. Students recited beautiful rhymes

describing their mother and thanking her for all she does.

Happiness comes from creative efforts. The joy of dreaming, creating and expressing your

thoughts by painting is unparalleled. “Every child is an artist”. To explore the creative

potentials of the young minds of our primary children, a painting competition for Grade II

students was held on 7th September 2017 in DPS, Miyapur. The theme of the activity was

“Swachh Bharat”. It was an exceptional event as the parents joined their kids to participate

in the painting activity. The children and parents showcased their creative skills in

painting and came up with amazing art work. They passed on the message of “Clean India

Green India”.

Storytelling gives the little minds the wings of imagination. It also plays a vital role in the

development of language and communication skills of a child especially kindergartener.

Keeping this in mind, Spin a Yarn Competition for Class UKG was organized on 11th

September, 2017. Students narrated beautiful and interesting stories with

voice modulation and expression. They also carried attractive props which was an

additional enhancement.

As an inspiration from the honourable Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi's "Swachh

Bharat" campaign, different events were organized by DPS-Miyapur on ‘Swachh Bharat

Mission’.



Since the role of schools is instrumental in realizing the Prime minister’s vision of Swachh

Bharat, the students of Grades V, VI and VII of DPS Miyapur went on a rally to the nearby

Bowrampet village on 29th August. They carried placards highlighting the importance of a

clean and healthier India. The rally culminated in a very inspirational song and a street

play in the local vernacular. The student’s rousing performance did strike a chord with the

villagers and they shared their grievances and expectations with the students who

conducted a survey on major issues on sanitation and hygiene. The data was compiled,

graphically interpreted and analyzed. Learners then shared their findings with their fellow

mates and the Environment Friendly Girl and Boy Prefect, Head Boy and Head Girl shared

the same with the Gram Panchayat officials. This was indeed a great experiential learning

and an eye opener for the learners as they had a brush with the true picture of rural life.

To build and enhance the general knowledge of the students on the Swach Bharat Abhiyan,

DPS-Miyapur had conducted a quiz contest for the students of Grade III, IV and

V on ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’ on 31st August, 2017. There were four rounds comprising

question-answer, multiple choice, audio-visual and a buzzer round. The competition

assayed the students’ team efforts as well as their attentiveness in the morning assemblies.

All the students participated enthusiastically and the participants as well as the winners

were well appreciated.

On September 7th, 2017, excitement was palpable in the air as parents of Grade II took part

in the poster making contest. While the little ones coloured the Swachh Bharat themed

picture outline given to them, the parents were equally enthusiastic to showcase their

thoughts on the same theme in the form of a poster. Their childlike enthusiasm was

infectious.

Finally the students of Grade IV conducted an assembly on 12th September, driving home

very vital points that “every drop counts”. The students were sensitized about the

importance of a clean environment and were also motivated to adopt cleanliness as an

important part of their day to day life. The kids emphasized what each one can do for a

cleaner and greener India through a skit and a melodious song. Children ended the

assembly with a Swachh Bharat pledge.

Every child is a creative individual. We need to nurture them in their young age. So

keeping this in mind “Euphoria Juniors” was held on 13th of September 2017 at DPS-

Hyderabad. There were two categories of competitions La Artistino (Colouring) for PP-I

and Rhapsody (Recitation) for PP-II. The topic for La Artistino was “Underwater” and

Rhapsody was “Celebration”. Students from seven different schools in Hyderabad

participated in this event. V

DPS Miyapur was represented by V.Sahasra Reddy (LKG) who bagged the 2nd prize for

Colouring and Dhruv Kala (UKG) who bagged the 3rd prize for Recitation.

“Dance is the hidden language of the soul and music is an outburst of the soul”.

Music illuminates the soul and dance frees the spirit. Dance and music are the artistic

expression of a beautiful soul. They help us to soothe, relax and relieve our brain and body

of tension and fatigue.

Keeping in mind the festive spirit of the season ahead, DPS-Miyapur had conducted an

Inter House Music and Dance competition on 19th September 2017. Grade III students took

part in the dance competition and Grade IV students participated in the group song

competition. The whole program was a beautiful concoction of some wonderful and

incredible performances.
