MSOE’s Direct Entry Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is for students with an earned bachelor’s degree in another discipline who want to transition to a career in nursing. Through this program, students will earn their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) through our Accelerated BSN program in 18 months. During this time, students complete nine graduate credits and take the NCLEX examination. The program then seamlessly progresses into the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) MSN program. The PMHNP MSN program prepares students for advanced practice in psychiatric mental health services for individuals and their family members. Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners are licensed to diagnose, treat and prescribe care for patients. This curriculum was developed in collaboration with Rogers Behavioral Health, a not-for-profit provider of behavioral health services that is nationally recognized for its specialized psychiatry and addiction services. Through this unique partnership, students receive some of their required practicum hours at Rogers’ locations and learn specialized content from Rogers’ staff. • The baccalaureate degree program in nursing and master’s degree program in nursing at Milwaukee School of Engineering are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).

ADMISSION CRITERIA

• Complete the free application at msoe.edu/apply

• Submit all official post-secondary transcripts (GPA requirements*)

• Undergraduate statistics course within the last five years

• A criminal background check and urine drug screen will be done on all students entering the program

*GPA 3.0. An applicant with a GPA between 2.70 and 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale) may be considered for admission following a writing assessment and formal interview with the program director and graduate program faculty.
