Directions University Towers is located on 111 Friendly Drive directly behind Zaxby’s on Hillsborough Street. Traveling West on I-40 Take exit 295, the Gorman Street exit, and continue straight. Turn right onto Hillsborough Street and then turn right at the 2nd light onto Friendly Drive. Traveling East on I-40 Take exit 289, the Wade Avenue exit, and continue straight. Turn right at the 4th stoplight onto Dixie Trail. Continue straight on Dixie Trail—Dixie will run into Hillsborough Street. Go straight through the stoplight at the Hillsborough Street intersection. UT will be on your left. Try to avoid driving through NCSU’s campus because of the on-campus housing traffic. Please remember not to park in the Reserved spaces, Handicap spaces or the Fire Lanes at University Towers. You will be able to park in our parking deck during check-in. Friends and other guests are not able to use the meal card, however, each resident will receive 5 guest meals to use for guests. Please do not leave your car unattended at this time. After unloading your belongings, please move your vehicle to an upper level in the deck to make space available for new arrivals. Raleigh police officers will be directing traffic. STEP 1 Check in at the registration desk in the first floor lobby. MAKE SURE TO BRING A PHOTO ID WITH YOU TO CONFIRM YOUR IDENTITY. At that time you will receive a registration card with further information regarding what we need from you in order to complete the check-in process. STEP 2 Proceed to the first floor study lounge. There we will ensure you are properly registered. You will then meet with your Community Assistant and pick up your room condition packet and keys. You will also acknowledge and sign an important Rules and Regulations agreement. STEP 3 If applicable, pick up your parking permit and/or register your bicycle. STEP 4 Feel free to start moving into your room. STEP 5 Pick up your UT ID card! If you submitted a photo online prior to move-in, your card is ready for pickup. Move-In Day Step By Step On Friday, August 17:

• Odd-numbered floors will be able to check in between 9 am – 1 pm

Packing TipsRemember to pack your things in boxes that are easy to carry. Try to distribute the weight evenly in several different boxes and plan how you will transport your belongings. It is a good idea to bring a small moving cart or hand truck on Move-In Day. It will help make your move much quicker and easier.

Dining Once you are finished checking in, we invite you and your family to the Dining Hall on the 9th f loor for a complimentary meal. The Dining Center hours of operation are 9am-7pm Friday, August 17th – Sunday, August 19th. You will receive meal passes for the complimentary meal at check-in.

Community Assistant Community Assistants are student members of the UT staff who live on each floor with the residents. CA’s have many different roles and responsibilities. They plan social and educational events for their residents as well as enforce the rules and regulations of UT and the NCSU Student Code. Your CA will be available to answer any questions you have on Move-In Day and throughout the year.

SprinklersThere are four (heat sensitive) sprinklers in each room. Please do not hang or put anything on the sprinklers.

1 window per room (does not open); comes with blinds, curtains not necessary. Please do not hang or stick anything to window.

Closet (58 inches x 21 inches)The closet includes a built in storage shelving unit. The doors on the closet are sliding mirror doors.

Walls You can hang LIGHTWEIGHT pictures using poster putty, thumb tacks, & push pins. DO NOT USE nails, screws or anything that will leave a visible hole.

OutletsThere are 12 outlets in each room. Please bring surge protectors.

ThermostatEach room has its own thermostat which allows you to be in control of the temperature in your room. All rooms have A/C and heat.

8th Floor Single RoomsIn addition to the standard desk and dresser, single rooms have a full-size bed, loveseat, media stand, and coffee table.

Private Double RoomsSame furniture as a standard double room – but leased to 1 person. Students in this room type will often move the two twin beds together to create a King size bed.

Internet Access All resident rooms are equipped with an Ethernet port for each student to connect to the internet. You will need a computer equipped with a network card and an Ethernet cable.

University Towers also has a building-wide wireless network. The Ethernet port connection is recommended for heavier bandwidth uses such as online gaming, video streaming, and for Web Assign homework sessions as a wired connection is always more stable than a wireless network.
