ECG Halter monitoring represents con-tinuous 24 hour monitoring of your heart beats while you perform all your daily

activities. It is used to detect irregular heart rhythms which will help the doctor to de-termine right therapy.

What can I expect from the procedure of positioning the device

The device for ECG halter-monitoring will be positioned on you in one of the ambulances of Urgent Diagnostic centre of “FILIP VTORI”. Please bring all re-sults from your last clinical examinations and the therapy list as well if you are tak-ing any medications.

The nurse will position several selfadhesive electrodes on your chest to detect electronic signals of the heart and to transmit them into portable recorder that you’ll carry in the case around your belt. The recorder doesn’t record your voice or any other voices except heart work. When recording is finished information from the recorder are transmitted via electronic card from the recorder into computer where the

doctor reads and analyses the results. While carrying the device it is

necessary to write down all your activi-ties, period of physical activities, rest, pe-riod of taking a medication therapy (if you take one) and all symptoms that you’ll experience. Aside from all daily activities it is necessary to exercise several times a day in period from 15-30 minutes to feel fatigue, like (walking upstairs and down-stairs, fast walking etc.). After 24h you are finished with recording and you should re-turn to the hospital where nurses will take out the halter and the doctor will analyze the results.

ABP monitoring represents continuous monitoring of blood pressure during 24 hours, while you perform all your daily activities. This monitoring will detect all variations of the blood pressure that will enable diagnosis of hypertensive disease. This monitoring will help to adjust the therapy according to daily rhythm and to achieve more efficient treatment of high blood pressure, which if not treated right will bring to heart or brain insults, kidney disease etc..
