Come Out & Play! The roots of our Fair date back to four cold days in 1859, when 6,000 visitors traveled many miles and braved chilly October winds to view farm equipment, produce, animals, and very popular horse races at an event sponsored by the “Farmer’s Mechanics & Manufacturers Association” of Warren County.

In 1937 sponsorship of the Fair was assumed by the Warren County Board of Agriculture, Pomona Grange and the United Milk Producers.

This year the Warren County Farmers’ Fair Association is proud to be celebrating 83 years. Today, the Fair provides eight days of educational & affordable family fun and entertainment. There is something for all ages and interests.

This year marks the 21st year of the Hot Air Balloon Festival in Warren County, NJ.

Nothing compares to the thrill of watching a bevy of colorful hot air balloons majestically rise from green pasture to blue sky. If you’re inclined to adventure, you can buy a ticket and hop on board for the adventure of a lifetime.

In 2020, when Covid-19 prevented the Fair from opening, the Balloon Festival was held at long time sponsor, Warren County Community College. Guess what? Peo ple love balloon festivals! Now, Warren County can boast of 3 balloon festivals! (Be sure to hold the date for the Hot Air Balloons, Fun & Games Festival at the College, September 24 - 26, 2021.

Partnership with the College is not new. They have been a long time sponsor and participant at the Fair. Three years ago the College began sharing progress on their Unmanned Systems (Drone) program at the Fair. This year they share plans for the implementation of a recently awarded $2-million grant from the State of New Jersey's Securing Our Children's Future bond. Autonomous aircraft will be flown to conduct crop analyses, industrial drones will be demonstrated, Transportation as a Service will be reviewed, and attendees will be invited to try their flight skills on an entry level unmanned aircraft.

Mass Hot Air Balloon Launches Watch the mass hot air balloon launch in the evenings, around 6:30 pm (weather permitting). For those that are attending a Balloon Festival for the first time, balloon activity is subject to wind. This means that the balloons inflate when the air is most stable. During the day, when the sun is heating things up, thermals begin to form. As the sun starts to go down, the thermals settle down as well. At the Festival, the balloons prepare to inflate several hours before sunset. When planning your visit, please keep in mind the balloon activity starts around 6:30 pm. Tethered Balloon Rides Every evening, as weather permits, tethered rides will be offered for $15 per adult, $10 for children up to 12. Exact times are based on the weather/wind on the field each day. Please note tethered rides are weather sensitive and may require calmer winds than a free-flying balloon. Keeping safety in mind, we will begin as close to launch time as possible, and appreciate your patience. Generally they will begin around or after the mass balloon launch.

When you see the Unity Bank Balloon tethering, they’ll be helping raise funds for the Fred Grotenhuis Scholarships and Fred T. Grotenhuis Veterans Community Center project. The Balloon Festival was the vision of Fred Grotenhuis, lifelong resident of Harmony Township.

MAIN ARENA EVENTS

Don’t miss the Kids’ Corral where kids can have fun with a variety of contests, shows and hands-on activities.

And we mean, don’t miss it, as the location for 2021 is changing. This year the Kids’ Corral is moving to what is traditionally the Traditional Arts Expo Building. No worries, for the Expo lovers - they are returning in 2022.

Make crafts or a quilt square that will become part of a big quilt. Quilts made from 2019 squares will be on display. Enter to win one! Interactive activities include mini golf, bowling, playing in the mini gravel pit, gathering eggs and milking a “cow”. Children may participate and win prizes in a variety of daily contests. Be entertained by clowns, be amazed by Rizzo’s Reptiles, enjoy the magic shows and a ventriloquist act. Create with Pottery Zone. Pick up or download a schedule so you can plan your visit accordingly. ALL activities are FREE to fairgoers!
