JOB DESCRIPTION Director of Information Technology Division: Business Services Department: Information Technology Classification: Professional Pay Grade: 13 Accountability: VP of Business Services FLSA Status: Exempt JOB SUMMARY Directs and manages all functions of the Information Technology department. The Director of IT is responsible for management of projects, supervision of departmental staff members and recommendations to Administration regarding IT policy and procedures. QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s in information systems, computer science or Associates Degree in an equivalent program of study combined with relevant work experience; Minimum three years’ experience in network administration with Windows services; to include knowledge of TCP/IP, network security, antivirus and anti-spam techniques; Experience with Windows Servers and Windows workstations in a Windows domain; Minimum of three years’ experience in coordination and implementation of computer and peripheral systems, to include planning, specifications development, purchasing, installation, training, trouble shooting, and repair; In-depth knowledge of a Windows servers including; Active Directory, Exchange, and Microsoft SQL; In-depth knowledge of VMware ESXi, vCenter and view. Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment; Ability to explain in laymen’s terms the use of computer related technologies; Advanced computer hardware and software knowledge and skills; Analytical and problem-solving abilities, with keen attention to detail; Self-motivated and direct, with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high- pressure environment; Supervisory experience; Strong customer-service orientation; Sitting for extended periods of time; Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and to handle other computer components; Lifting and transporting of heavy to moderately heavy objects such as computers and peripherals.

  • PREFERRED QUALIFICAITONS

    Masters degree in information technology, computer science or a related field

    CCNA, Network+ and A+ certified, Microsoft certifications

    In-depth knowledge of Cisco firewalls, routers and switches

    RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Prepare and manage the Information Technology budget as well as the Instructional Technology

    budget.

    2. Supervise the Desktop Technician and Network Administrator

    3. Monitor, manage, maintain and administer the server environment including; Active Directory,

    Exchange, SQL database, EX (ERP) and JICS (CRM).

    4. Secure all servers.

    5. Prepare and monitor a disaster recovery, including backups of servers.

    6. Provide repair and upgrades for hardware, networks and software.

    7. Install, setup, and maintain appropriate software on servers.

    8. Develop bid specifications as required by MATC policy for new and replacement hardware and

    software.

    9. Responsible for coordinating the selection and purchase of equipment and support materials

    needed to reach MATC goals.

    10. Develop and maintain an accurate inventory of all MATC technology equipment.

    11. Coordinate and provide in-service and hands-on training for MATC staff for hardware and

    software applications as needed.

    12. Maintain accuracy and quality in any and all written materials developed.

    13. Maintain a limited inventory of parts and materials.

    14. Remain current in the utilization of technology in the field of education by attending training

    sessions, seminars and workshops

    15. Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President of Business Services.

    LENGTH OF CONTRACT: Twelve (12) month contract SALARY: Salary commensurate with experience and level of educational attainment. GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION: Effectively manage Colleges Information Technology department. Provide leadership to department and serve as a liaison between Administration and staff regarding planning for the future of the department.
