Video Styles…• Sophie Muller’s “typical” main style predominately
features the song artists, as the only people in the music video (with their instruments sometimes) performing in a room.
• Her use of fast paced, on the beat shot changes is a convention of most of her videos.
• She also likes to play around with various visual effects to enhance the video further, with colour manipulation on several videos.
• Use of light is usually very naturalistic, with additional lighting used occasionally to highlight the artist more.
• Lots of close ups of the artist to show emotion and talent!
What I like…There are various aspects of Sophie Muller’s work that I like, and therefore would potentially like to emulate in my own music video:
• Use of colour/CGI: I love some of the CGI work involving colour manipulation etc. and really would like to use that myself.
• Lots of artist close up shots: The various close ups that are used really show the emotion and talent that the singers and artists have.
• Fast and on-the-beat editing: As I hope to use a up tempo music track (more than likely a dance track) I will almost certainly be using on the beat editing practices.
