BIOGRAPHY

Born In: Auckland, New Zealand, 1966

He lived in Auckland up until he was 11 years old, where he

moved to Papua New Guinea

He prefers the New Zealand education system because of it’s

emphasis on creativity.

- “I think there’s an openness in New Zealand and a freedom, in

the way I grew up anyway, that encouraged the openness of

imagination.”

He started his career in an Auckland computer animation

company. “The Mouse That Roared”

BIOGRAPHY CONT.There he studied advertisements and station logos. He did

a advertisement for ‘Minties’.

When he went to the U.S.A for a conference, he was hired

by a California company ‘Pacific Data Images’.

He got into visual effects and slowly got into Jurassic Park

(1993) and Pixar’s Toy Story (1995)

PDI soon joined forces with ‘DreamWorks’ and made

“Shrek” (2001) which won the 1st Academy Award for a

feature animation.

PREFERRED STYLE

He doesn’t really have a preferred style but he

does work with animation and Special effects a lot in

his movies as he grew up doing animation in New

Zealand and America.

IMPACT OF THEIR F ILM WORK ON NZ SOCIETY

He didn’t have much of an impact on New Zealand

society due to his movies being big overseas.

The movies such as; The Chronicles of Narnia were

filmed in NZ.
