  • Directors Note

I am humbled to work with a collection of individuals from different backgrounds working toward the same creative goal, to bring a playwright’s words to life. Live theatre is truly a magical experience that the virtual world cannot replicate. This unique experience is created by individuals using their God given talents to create the world within this show. I would like to thank Neil Shuford and the leadership team of ITheatre, thank you for working so hard on this play. I would like to thank Diana Juarez, art teacher at Weslaco High School, for bringing the vision of our set to life. To Madonna Johnson for helping sell so many tickets, thank you! To Terez Cadotte, thank you for working so hard on props and searching (in dumpsters) everywhere for them. To the extraordinary people of Trails End Park, thank you for supporting our play. Your support was truly appreciated and this show would not have made it without your help. To Jim and Linda Stainer THANK YOU, you are the most energetic, creative, thoughtful and resourceful Canadians we have ever met! We are blessed to call you friends. I would also like to thank our Mayor David Suarez, City Manager Mike Perez, David Arce and the City of Weslaco for keeping The Tower Theater doors open. For over fifty seven years the Weslaco Tower Theater has been a beacon of creativity in The RGV, and there is nothing like it in the great State of Texas. Finally to Rise Morris and The Mid Valley Civic Theatre for being with us every step of the way. Rise’s mother, Shirley Atkins, was the force behind the Tower Theatre for decades. It was this mother and daughter’s love for theatre that kept the Tower Theater going over the last 57 years. We hope to help continue this legacy for decades to come. Our purpose is to help people experience the magical experience of live theatre. Remember, you won’t need to wear goofy 3D glasses as WE PERFORM IN REAL-D. Thank you for joining us for this performance. Please visit our sponsors, these business have been pivotal in bringing this show to life.

  • Drinking Habits follows The Sisters of Perpetual Sewing, two nuns in a small convent, trying to keep the doors open by secretly making and selling wine to the local townspeople. The only problem is the two nuns have been keeping their secret from the head nun, Mother Superior, who hates wine so much she can't even mention the word. Add on two snooping reporters going undercover as clergy and Rome sending out secret spies to check on convents, and you have a zany show about good intentions going bad. Setting: The Sisters of Perpetual Sewing Convent in the Shady Glenn country side 1969. ACT 1 Scene 1: Sisters of Perpetual Sewing Convent. Scene 2: The next day morning. ACT 2 Scene 1: Later that same day. Scene 2: Same day in the evening.

Sister Augusta – Kara J. Urbina It was at Donna High School where she found out that she was genetically predisposed to Theatre. Every cell in her body awoke once she stepped on the stage. She plans to keep doing what she was genetically created to do for years to come. In real life she is a mild mannered school teacher shaping the minds of tomorrow. She is also an avid runner and full time mom to 4 demanding boys!

Sister Philamena - Myra Trevino is excited to be making her debut with ITheatre of Texas. She asks that you please not compare her bio to others as you'll find no theatre experience here. The closest she comes to that was starring as Gretel in an elementary play titled, "Hansel and Gretel." With respect to public speaking, you may recognize Myra as one of the faces of Channel 5's "Teen Break" back in the early 1990's. Otherwise, she's been busy obtaining a bachelor's degree in psychology from Baylor University and a master's in bilingual education from the University of Texas - Pan American. Myra has taught elementary for so many

years that she's lost count. Myra would like to thank Steve Urbina for the opportunity to work with ITheatre, with a special thanks to his wife, Kara, for encouraging her to throw caution to the wind and audition for her first time. Myra would also like to thank her parents for their continued support. However, as much as she'd like to, Myra cannot express the same gratitude to her daughter, Madison, as that teenager has been of no support in any way, sadly. With that said, Myra hopes you will enjoy the show!

George - David Castaneda is a broadcast journalism graduate of San Antonio's University of the Incarnate Word. His previous stage work includes UTPA's musical production of Into the Woods as Cinderella's father. He is currently the lead singer of the Tejano band, Llueve. This is his debut performance with ITheatre and is thrilled to perform at the Tower Theatre. Cheers to his cast mates, friends, family, and his boxer, Elvis.

  • Mother Superior – Linda Stainer is a Winter Texan fan of the RGV Valley people (and weather) From Manitoba, Canada we travel south in the winter to enjoy the warm winter sun of Texas. Thanks to my husband for his support, patience, and set construction. Huge thank you to personal and Tower Theater friends from Trails End Mobile Park for all of their contributions and support. My first venture with this remarkable group was in 2015 in 'An Unspeakable Triumph of Supreme Brilliance'. I am afraid I have some moral defaults in this production as well... I hope you have as many laughs watching it as we have had rehearsing.

Father Chenille - Vicente Reyna (alter ego), or Vince as his “homies” know him Vince is a veteran of the stage; he’s acted in numerous productions since the late 1900’s, but has been with ITheatre since its humble beginnings! Some of his productions were legal others were just flat out questionable! He practices his acting chops with local and at times, federal, run-ins with the law. One day he aspires to be a musical engineer at an adult entertainment venue under the pseudo name of DJ Rusty Rust and his Pants Off Dance Off Troupe. He contributes his ever-successful success and muscular body to the masterful

artwork of Chuck Norris (Texas Ranger Era). Aside from Mr. Norris, he would like to give thanks for the support his CEO has showed during his madness- his wife! Without her blessing, this would be a curse!

Paul Billings – Neil Shuford has been a servant of the stage all of his life. Ever since his first play in kindergarten, Neil has been fascinated by the magic of theatre and has set out to make it his life's work. Neil has a BA in theatre from UTPA, and is currently teaching theatre arts at Weslaco High School. His day is filled with rehearsals, acting, stagecraft, lots of cats and more rehearsals. He wouldn't change a thing.

Sally Andrews - Gaby Jones was dared to try out for the musical 'Annie' in the 9th grade. She got the role of Ms. Hannigan and from then on was hooked on getting on stage, feeling the lights on her face and acting like a total weirdo. Gaby has acted in Rochester, New York City, London and the English Theatre in Frankfurt. She would like to thank her family and loved ones for supporting her theatre 'habit', and ITheatre for permitting her to keep on playing! Sister Mary Catherine - Clara Cuellar is back on the stage after years of retirement. Her extensive theatre career includes but is not limited starring roles at A.P. Solis Middle School and Donna High school theatre productions. Life in the limelight was too much to bear; thus, her decision to lead a more private life. She spent her hiatus perfecting her roles of wife to Steven Cuellar mother to Madalynn and Steven Riley, and educator to the masses at Clecker-Heald Elementary. After mastering these roles she decided to come back to theatre to please her adoring fans.
