ATHLETIC BANDS

The UCF Marching Knights consists of 350+ students representing nearly every college and major on campus. Two primary goals drive the ensemble: to serve as musical ambassadors for the university, and to provide an outstanding environment of performance and growth for students. The Marching Knights is one of the most visible musical organizations at UCF, performing at home football games, select away games, postseason games such as conference championship and bowl games, and special events throughout the fall.

The Marching Knights meets Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:00-8:30 p.m. during the fall semester. Membership is open to all UCF students with prior experience in marching band. Auditions are required for the percussion and auxiliary sections. No auditions are required for wind players. The Marching Knights also serves as a major ensemble for music majors. Members receive 2-3 hours of academic credit for each semester of successful participation.

Course Number: MUN 3113

The UCF Jammin’ Knights Pep Band performs at all home UCF men’s and women’s basketball games, select women’s volleyball games and postseason tournaments for basketball and volleyball. In the fall, the pep band is made up of students from the Marching Knights. In the spring, it is its own class. The class rehearses on select Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Students will be assigned to perform at various games throughout the season.

There is no audition required and the class serves as a minor ensemble for music majors. Members of this ensemble receive two hours of academic credit for each semester of successful participation.
