Final Project: Drama 8

Section #1: Background Info

• A brief biography about the playwright

• A sample review of your play

• A list of duties for the director

• A list of duties for the producer

• A list of characters and a short description of each one

• A sample “casting call”

• Highlight a segment of your script that will be read at

auditions

• A cast list with explanations for your choices

Biography of Playwright

List of Characters

Most scripts will already have this done for you. If there is

not a character list/description you will need to create one

for your script.

Include explanations for your casting selections!

Ex: “Cat: Johnny Depp- he is versatile and plays characters very well.”

Section #2: Play Analysis

• Action Analysis

• Character Analysis

• Tempo/rhythm

• Mood

• Historical, biographical, social background

• Production history

Action Analysis

This is a paragraph that explains the plot of your play.

Character Analysis

Use the ivory character analysis sheet to complete this

component.

Background: Societal, Historical….

Explain how your play would fit into theater history. In

what era would it have most likely occurred/been written

for?

Production History

Where has this play been produced?

Where should/could it be produced? Who is best suited for

this play?

Section #3: Technical Elements

• A copy of the one-act/script

• A sample rehearsal schedule

• Ground Plan

• Blocking Plan

• Scenery sketches

• Costuming sketches- at least one costume must be

designed for each character

• Makeup design sketches for the lead charactersProp list

Copy of the Script

You can print this directly from the website (most of the

time). Make sure you read through your entire script

before starting the project.

Rehearsal Schedule

This should be at least 6 weeks long and should be

specific.

Ground Plan

Blocking Plan

Usually this part is already done for you! We call them

stage directions and they appear in italics/parentheses in

most scripts.

Scenery Sketch

This should be a drawing. It needs to be in color, neat,

and easy to understand. Labels will be helpful.

Costume Sketch

These can be computer generated, hand drawn, or

photographs. They need to be in color and labeled by

character.

Make-up/Hair Design

These can be computer generated, hand drawn, or

photographs. They need to be in color and labeled by

character.

Prop List

Most scripts will include this at the beginning or the end.

If it is not included, you will need to read through your

script and make a list.
