Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council, Sweden

DCS 6000 Digital Conference System The EAPC Security Forum is an informal ministerial meeting to be held every year as part of cooperation in EAPC and the Partnership for Peace (PfP) with the participation of other actors in the security policy area. One purpose of the EAPC Security Forum is to provide an opportunity for in-depth discussion in a wider circle of important security policy issues linked to EAPC/PfP.

Sweden was chosen to host the inaugural EAPC Security Forum. The meeting was held in Åre. It consisted of an informal meeting of foreign ministers and a broader meeting of the Security Forum.

Informationsteknik Scandinavia AB was responsible for the complete AV-solution including conference equipment for the meetings and the press conferences. The conference equipment consisted of DM 6070P, portable digital conference microphones from DIS and the DIS digital simultaneous interpretation system.

Large part of the meetings was transmitted to national and international press, radio and television with a perfect sound quality.

North China Power Engineering Co., China

DCS 6000 Digital Conference SystemNorth China Power Engineering (Beijing) Co., Ltd., a leading provider of survey and design, engineering consultation, and general contracting services, has recently furnished their new corporate boardroom with DIS DCS 6000 conference equipment, which is provided by the DIS China distributor Wincomn Technology.

The boardroom has been equipped with a DIS CU 6005 Central Unit and 30 flush mount DM 6060 Delegate Microphones with fixed and flexible gooseneck microphones. The unit also includes loudspeaker and talk/request button with an LED indication. The system includes four channels of simultaneous interpretation with the option to be increased to 32 channels.

The fully digital, high-quality conference system makes the board room look very graceful, and the customer is also very satisfied with the result - a perfectly integrated system within a reasonable budget.

The customer states: “When we integrated DIS conference system into the meeting rooms, it provided such a superior performance. And also the flush mounted units make the room very neat, blending into the environment very well. It’s really a very nice installation.”

Wincomn Technology has also provided the room with projectors, recording facilities and other control applications.



EU Committee Meeting Room at the Danish Parliament

DC 6990P Touchscreen Conferencing™The council chamber for the European Committee at the Danish Parliament “Folketinget” is fitted with the latest in discussion technology, cameras and web-streaming. However, the integrator Informationsteknik Scandinavia were restricted in what they could do to modify the rooms décor. Therefore the room and the table were left largely in tact.

The committee room is dominated by a large oval table with 32 seats around it. Each seat is equipped with a conference delegate unit - a DC 6990P with the chip card reader. The unit is also equipped with a touch screen, which can be used for messaging, voting, viewing voting results or reading documents.

The Danish parliament has their own broadcast facility on the site and a dedicated streaming suite. The idea is to feed this with audio, video and data from the discussion in the meeting room. A podium in the middle of the room holds four cameras. These provide face-shots for web-casts or broadcasts and are interfaced with the DIS microphone system to automa-tically track to the face of the person speaking. A fifth camera is used to provide an overall shot of the room.

In order to get the cameras to communicate with the DIS conference system and respond to its control commands an AMX Netlinx unit is installed. Running parallel to the AV-signals is the meta-data from the DIS conference system. The web streaming server can request almost any piece of information such as name of the speaker, the agenda, the speaking time etc.



Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kazakhstan

DCS 6000 Digital Conference SystemThe capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan is one of the capitals in the world that is growing and developing very fast. Astana (former Akmola) was made the capital of Kazakhstan on 10th December 1997 by the President of Kazakhstan and the Parliament. The international presentation of Astana as the new capital of Kazakhstan was held on 10th June 1998.

Currently many administrative buildings, business and entertainment centers are under construction in Astana. In 2006 a new building for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was built.

The DIS distributor Samat Show Technics Ltd. was responsible for installing the conference equipment in this very nicely looking building The DIS equipment was chosen after a thorough selection through a state tender. The equipment was supplied for three halls.

In hall one Samat Show provided DCS 6000 Digital Conference System for 35 delegates. The solution consists of DM 6090P delegate microphones, simultaneous interpretation system for 5 languages with infrared receivers and the conference system is controlled by the SW6000 software.

In hall two there is a digital conference system for 42 delegates with DM 6020P microphones and a public-address system.

In hall three there is also a digital conference system for 18 delegates based on DM 6020P and a public-address system.



DIS at the Central Bank of Thailand

DCS 6000 Digital Conference SystemThe new head office of Bank of Thailand has been equipped with digital conference and simultaneous interpretation systems in all meeting rooms and in the main auditorium. DIS Thai distributor Vichai Trading (1983) Co., Ltd won the tender for a complete Audio-Visual and conference solution.

VIP Board Room The board room application features a CU 6010 central unit handling the system with 6 sets of IS 6132 for interpreters in 3 interpreter booths. The 38 delegates and one chairman conference microphones are customised white colour flush mount units built into the conference table with channel selectors (CM6060F/DM6060F).

The Auditorium The master hall of the main building is designed for various conferencing and staging activities. The solution chosen is the DCS 6000 Digital infrared wireless language distribution system including 6 sets of IS 6132 simultaneous interpretation units in eight languages. The delegates can listen to the interpreters from the DR 6008 infrared receivers. The installation includes 3 interpreter booths nearby the control room when needed. For recording of all sound channels an AO 6008 is used. The audio is distributed to all participants by using 4 digital IR radiators. All conference management in the board room and the auditorium is handled with the DIS software SW 6000.

Meeting Rooms Each department has its individual meeting rooms. All 13 rooms are equipped with portable microphone conference units. 5 of these rooms holds back up units.

National Assembly of Bhutan, Thimpu

DCS 6000 Digital Conference SystemBhutan’s transition to democracy required a Parliament with state of the art conference facilities. The National Assembly of Bhutan has chosen DIS conference equipment for their new parliament.

The DIS system is integrated with a multi-camera system for live video and recording. Each member of the house has a flush mount conference unit with gooseneck microphone, loudspeaker, channel selector, and parliamentary voting with chip card for member identification.

The cameras have been located strategically around the assembly hall and are integrated with the conference system to automatically focus on the parliament member speaking. These cameras shall provide output to matrix switcher for recording, relay to other rooms as well as displaying SW 6000 conference information on large screens such as lists of members speaking and on request, voting results etc. In addition to the image of the member speaking the screens will also display his constituency, party affiliation and other such details. His Majesty and his VIP guests will be provided with personal LCD panels.

The control room is equipped with a touch panel system for controlling the complete solution.



Palais d’Egmont, Brussels, Belgium

DCS 6000 Digital Conference SystemEgmont Palace (Palais d’Egmont) was constructed in the 16th century and totally renovated in the 18th century by the wealthy Arenberg family. After the First World War the owner, the German Arenberg family, was forced to sell the building to the city of Brussels. In 1964 it was sold to the Belgian state.

Today, it is being used for receptions and high-level international meetings by the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The conference facilities are newly refurbished with a completely new DIS DCS 6000 Digital Conference System.

FD 4020 microphone units are flush mounted into the table and for every two persons a TFT screen is installed. On the screen you can see a data image or an image of the speaker as there is a camera follow-up system connected to the conference solution. The system is controlled by a Crestron controller.

The conference hall also holds two ceiling-mounted projectors for projecting on the back walls. A matrix gives the opportunity to project the data image on the two big screens and the camera image of the speaker on the individual screens or the reverse..

All around the room in the back you have visitors’ seats with channel selectors and several interpretation booths on two floors.

EU Commission (EESC & CoR), Belgium

DCS 6000 Digital Conference System

The European Economic and Social Commitee (EESC) and the Committee of the Regions (CoR) hold their meetings in a building at Rue Belliard in Brussels. DIS has equipped all 8 meeting rooms (from 50 to 224 delegates) with the most advanced digital conference equipment including conference microphones, voting and simultaneous interpretation system and wired language distribution.

The conference management software, SW 6000 runs on all monitors and keeps the delegates updated on voting results, meeting agenda, delegate information etc.

In the meeting rooms there are space for up to 50 interpreters, who can monitor the delegates either through the soundproof glass or on the display. The systems handles 32 channels/languages plus 8 open microphones. When no one is speaking, the ambient microphone will automatically turn on.

In the nearby technical room the operator handles the large mimic display, the AMX display etc. - and in the central operator rooms the technicians overview all rooms and take care of room linking, audio logging and data management.

Lakehead University, Ontario, Canada

DCS 6000 Digital Conference SystemLakehead University is providing distance learning, and professors at Lakehead are using advanced communications technology to connect with learners both on and off campus.

Videoconferencing and webstreaming technology enable them to reach students living around the world. The professors enjoy going online during class to access their own resources and to visit related websites. They also like the new DIS conference microphones, document cameras, and the LCD monitors that makes it easy for all students, no matter where they are seated, to hear the instructor and see the demonstrations.

Lakehead University has invested in the DCS 6000 Digital Conference System and has six systems with a total of more than 300 portable microphones - all with two built-in channel selectors in order for two students each to share a microphone. Simultaneous interpretation with six channels (English, French, Cree, Ojibway, Innu and a guest language) is also available at the university. The system has a maximum of 32 channels.

All the digital microphone units are delivered with the intelligent Voice Active Technology (VOX). VOX facilitates a discussion as the student may speak without remembering to push the button. Voice active microphones have the ability to measure audio activity around the microphone capsule. When a student starts to speak, the system will process the speech activity and decide intelligently and instantly when to turn on the microphone. Likewise the microphone will be turned off when there is no valid voice activity,



The NATO 53rd Annual Session in Iceland

DCS 6000 Digital Conference SystemAbout 350 legislators from NATO member, partner and observer countries, including delegations from Afghanistan, Algeria, Israel, Japan, Kazakhstan and Pakistan, met at the Laugardalshöllin Exhibition Centre, Iceland to discuss major security issues on the Alliance’s Agenda.

The meeting was held in a sports venue, where Nyherji - the DIS distributor in Iceland arranged and handled all technical equipment such as phones, faxes, computers, sound, video and the DCS 6000 conference equipment and provided all technicians, including one from DIS, who helped to program the DCS equipment.

The venue holds two meeting rooms and two big halls - one was divided into two separate meeting rooms and the other was used as offices. Four meeting rooms in total were used all 3 days, and one press room. A Plenary meeting ended the session, and Nyherji had to change the setup in the room.

Each room was provided with 7 channels’ interpretation, 50 - 110 microphones, appr. 90 infrared recievers and 6 interpreter booths. At the plenary meeting 230 infrared recievers were in use.

This is the largest conference that Nyherji has managed since the beginning of their rental business back in 1968 and they can proudly tell that the equipment worked very well, nothing went wrong, and everybody was very happy about their work.

Ministry of Defence of Georgia

DCS 6000 Digital Conference SystemThe vision for the Ministry of Defence of Georgia is among other things to continue participating in international peacekeeping and stabilization operations, in a manner, which highlights its commitment to world peace and the global war against terrorism. Georgia is committed to being not only a consumer of global security, but also a provider.

All this requires various international meetings and conferences. Because of that the DIS distributor in Georgia Georgian Integrated Systems (GIS) Ltd. has equipped the Ministry of Defence of Georgia with the digital conference system DCS 6000 including simultaneous interpretation for 100 participants.

The conference package features a central unit CU 6010 handling the system and a number of microphone units with built in channel selectors CM/DM 6070 P for the delegates and the chairman and last but not least Interpreter Sets IS 6132 for the interpreters.

GIS Ltd. has supported with extra conference equipment for various international conferences organized by the Ministry of Defence of Georgia.



The Organization of American States

DCS 6000 Digital Conference SystemThe Organization of American States (OAS) has had systems from DIS Danish Interpretation Systems in their meeting rooms for several years. They presently own both portable and fixed installed systems for the following rooms:

Simon Bolivar Room: DIS digital flush mounted microphones for 39 delegates and simultaneous interpretation in four languages for the delegates, support staff and observers. The system - installed originally in 2001 is now upgraded to fully digital conference system.

Padilla Vidal & Gabriella Mistral Meeting Room: DIS digital portable microphones for up to 50 delegates and simultaneous interpretation in four languages for all meeting participants. The electronics are permanently installed in two control rooms and utilize AMX external control.

Guerra Meeting Room: DIS digital portable microphones for up to 50 delegates and simultaneous interpretation in four languages for the delegates, support staff and observers.

CICAD: The drug enforcement arm of the OAS has a portable system, which is used in many different environments and countries. This system supports up to 50 delegates and 4 languages of simultaneous interpretation.

The OAS selected DIS as the supplier of their conferencing and interpretation system needs primarily because of the quality of the electronics and technical support from the manufacturer and strong local distributor support.



Beijing Olympics in China 2008

DCS 6000 Digital Conference SystemDIS Danish Interpretation Systems won the bid of providing conference facilities for the new National Stadium, the “Bird’s Nest”, the main venue for the 2008 Beijing Olympics in China. DIS which is distributed by Wincomn Technology in China, and has already served the BOCOG (Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the 2008 Olympics) in a wide series of important conferences since 2006.

Due to a limited capacity of conference rooms BOCOG decided to organize many conferences for the 2008 Beijing Olympics in various hotels across the Chinese Capital. However, most of the hotels are not yet well-equipped with conference systems, so they had to find a excellent conference system supplier to ensure the quality of conferences performed from the beginning of mid-2006 to the 2008 Beijing Olympics Closing ceremony.

The supplier was requested to have abundant experience in all types of conferences, as well as having expertise in a large number of high-quality conference facilities. Considering the special demands BOCOG chose to rent the conference equipment. After a strict bidding process, DIS, distributed by Wincomn Technology defeated all competitors in a furious competition run and won the bid.

Örebro City Hall, Sweden

DCS 6000 Digital Conference System - Streaming and Archiving128.000 persons live today in Örebro and 11.000 of them works for the city or at the city hall. The municipal council consists of 65 people from 8 different parties and they meet every month. These meetings at the city hall are attended by the citizens in person or they can follow the streamed and archived meetings through the Internet.

This innovative conference installation combines the Internet and the AV world - thanks to the DIS Conference Management Software and the streaming facilities. You vote, see the results on the big displays in the city hall - or via your pc at home. There is also camera control to show the person speaking - again either on the big displays or via the Internet on the pc. The customer and the users are very satisfied with the system - and they only needed one half day of training in the conference hardware and the software modules to get used to the system.

The city hall holds 70 seats all with voting equipment and a hand microphone for every second seat. On the podium there are four more seats for the secretary, the chairman etc. Three cameras are enough to cover everybody and three projectors projects the different outputs (voting results, camera image, agenda, delegate information etc.). All meetings will be archived so if you don’t see the streamed presentation at once you can always go back and see the part you want. The information is indexed automatically for you to search a specific speaker (politician) or a specific subject.

OSCE Ministerial Council in Slovenia

DCS 6000 Digital Conference System & Digital InfraredThe OSCE - The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe is the world’s largest regional security organization with 55 participating states. In 2005, Slovenia held the Chairmanship including hosting the 13th Ministerial Council, at the “Commercial Fairground” in Ljubljana. In total 10 conference rooms incl. the plenary hall, a press conference room and a press area were in use.

A Complete Digital Conference System AVC-Group in Slovenia and Informationsteknik, Denmark provided the complete digital DIS conference system including 220 portable conference microphones with built-in channel selectors, 8 channels simultaneous interpretation, and digital infrared language distribution system for the remaining audience. 1800 digital, wireless receivers were in use.

Great Success for the Digital Language Distribution The OSCE meeting was hitherto the biggest event for the digital infrared system to show its strength with perfect audio coverage. Both the technical installation and the DCS 6000 features were highly praised by the Slovenian National TV, the interpreters and the organizer.

DIS at Oslo City Hall, Norway

SW 6000 Conference Management SoftwareOslo City Hall’s listed council chamber and the DIS DCS 6000 Digital Conference System have resulted in a perfect synergy where cutting edge technology merges with mid 20th century interior design. Thus providing the councillors with the most advanced conference technology available today.

All seats are equipped with flush mount microphone units incorporating chip card registration, voting buttons and loudspeaker. Furthermore all councillors have been equipped with a new laptop and in conjunction with their use in every day city business these have been set up as thin clients connecting to DIS SW 6000 applications running on an SQL terminal server. The application contains agenda, speaker and request list information, voting results and messaging.

Each laptop is set up with a Windows Remote Desktop connection that accesses the Conference User Application directly on the terminal server. When activated the remote desktop allows the councillor access to the SW 6000 application as if it was installed on the laptop but which in reality is running on the terminal server.

The advantage of running applications directly on the terminal server is that there are no specific hardware requirements for the thin clients. Inexpensive clients of moderate specification can be applied as a cost-effective solution in large installations. Another advantage of running applications on a terminal server is the decrease in installation and maintenance work. In a normal client/server installation all the clients would have to be pre-configured and have the applications installed on each and every client. In a thin client/server environment there is no need for pre-configuring, installing and maintaining the DIS applications on the clients as this takes place on the terminal server alone.



Conseil Régional de Bretagne, France

DCS 6000 Digital Conference SystemThe ‘Conseil Régional de Bretagne’ is holding their meetings every month in Rennes in a newly built and very modern building.

Inside the building you will find the advanced meeting room equipped with DCS 6000 Digital Conference System from DIS – sold through the French DIS distributor Axente.

The room is equipped with 159 flush mount panels with 5 voting buttons, Proxy-voting and a chip card reader for identification of each delegate. The SW 6000 Conference Management Software in French is installed to manage the participants logging on to the system. The delegate list will be projected via the CDA Conference Display Application on a large 4 X 3 meter screen. The screen is also used for showing live video of the speakers, as a camera follow-up system with 3 CCD dome cameras is connected to the conference system.

Furthermore there are two interpreter booths with each 2 interpreter sets in the complete conference solution.

University of Novara, Italy

DCS 6000 Digital Conference System

The main auditorium (the Aula Magna) and the counsellors’ room at the University of Novara are all equipped with the DIS conference system. 400 custom plates with channel selectors are mounted in the arm rest of all chairs in the auditorium, and at the podium in the front 7 portable CM/DM 6070P microphones with built-in channel selectors are placed. The simultaneous interpretation system is set up in mobile booths when needed. For recording of all active sound channels an AO 6008 is connected to the system. The complete DCS 6000 system is operated from an AMX panel.


In the counsellors room portable CDS 4000 microphones are installed.
