Overview

• Most companies have some sort of IT Disaster recovery / Business continuity plan in place

• Businesses evolve and data increases– is your DR plan adequate?

• The best technology is to have a live replica system but this is expensive and therefore cost prohibitive

• There is now “Pre-recovery” which builds replica systems every 24 hours and tests them.

• Pre-recovery is much lower cost, but has the benefits of guaranteed recovery and fast recovery times

What is Pre-recovery?

Put simply…..

It’s the process of recovering your IT systems in advance and testing them so should you have an IT disaster you have a virtual replica system that’s already configured and tested. This means:• It’s guaranteed to work as it’s already tested• You will be up and running near instantaneously• It’s incredibly simple to use – no technical assistance

is required from the client end.

How does it work?

Dedicated Plan B Appliance

takes ‘snapshot’ copies of live

servers. Incremental data is

minimised and encrypted and

securely transferred to Plan B’s

central systems

Incremental snapshot data

is combined with existing

snapshots to create new

updated snapshots for

each protected server

Updated snapshots are immediately built into working virtual

images and configured to operate without error on the Plan B

Rescue platform. Plan B’s master system configured to replicate all

dependencies and to reproduce secure network connectivity

All newly pre-recovered services are automatically

booted together and the complete solution tested every

night. Any errors are reported for engineer

investigation

Pre-recovered solutions are ready to

be simply booted and can be

available in minutes with secure

network access setup ready to do

work

How do the costs compare?

• Pre-recovery is available at a cost comparable to traditional disaster recovery

• Automation allows us to recover and test your IT systems every 24 hours

• Virtualisation and the cloud has enabled this technology at a price point that is previously unobtainable

• Roughly £150 per month per server can guarantee availability (depending on data quantities)

< 15 minute or < 24 hour Recovery point

Plan B’s standard single Snapshot operation provides a < 24 hour recovery point

Running a parallel On-line Backup service (OLB) can provide an enhanced recovery point of < 15 minutes.

The On-Line Backup service is used to roll forward the data point after the servers have been recovered
