Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM): Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) was constituted w.e.f
th26 September 2017. The functions of the EAC-PM inter alia include addressing the issues of macroeconomic importance. Keeping in view that the industrial units in various segments play a major role in economic development of the country and that not only huge investments are made in establishing these industrial units but also large number of employees and contract workers are involved at every stage of these units, EAC-PM has accepted the request of the Chemical Industrial Disaster management (CIDM) Board to support CIDM Conferences.
National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Government of India was constituted in Sept, 2005 consequent to enactment of Disaster Management Act, 2005. Hon'ble Prime Minister of India is ex-officio Chairman of NDMA. NDMA, as per its inter alia mandate, has brought out National Guidelines on (i) Chemical (Industrial) Disaster Management (CIDM) (ii) Chemical (Terrorism) Disaster Management; the objective of the guidelines is to strengthen prevention, mitigation and preparedness measures; minimize accidents; and set up an effective mechanism to respond to disasters. For further details, y o u m a y v i s i t t h e w e b s i t e : http://www.ndma.gov.in/en/
Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), an apex industry association, has organized several training & education programmes
in all major industrial sectors in coordination with accredited Indian and global agencies. Disaster Management has been selected by FICCI to raise awareness of the industrial sector and of NGOs, District & State Authorities including Statutory Agencies as well as all the stakeholders in the community who are most vulnerable during disasters. For further details, you may visit the website: http://ficci.in/
The conference on Chemical & Industrial Disaster Management is being successfully conducted for last ten years under the Chairmanship of Lt Gen (Dr) J R Bhardwaj, PVSM AVSM VSM PHS (Retd), Chairman CIDM Board and Former Member, National Disaster Management Authority, Government of India, New Delhi. Under this program 34 Conferences/Workshops and Mock Drills have been conducted in various regions of the country.
Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA) is a part of State Government and is a nodal institution for planning, co-ordination and monitoring for disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness and management. SSDMA lays down policies on disaster management for the state. It approves disaster management plan in accordance to the guidelines laid down by National Authority and co-ordinates its implementation. It provides guidelines and reviews the measures being taken for mitigation, capacity building and preparedness by the Government and issue guidelines as necessary. SSDMA recommends provision of funds for mitigation and preparedness measures.
