PRESENTATION SUMMARY We are excited to present, Tony Belak and J-R Curtin speaking about Workplace Bullying. LOCAL IIA NEWS

FALL NETWORK STUDENT EVENT On November 3rd, our Chapter hosted the Annual Fall Student Network event where we invited students form the local universities to network with local IIA and ISACA members. We had student attendees from both Bellarmine and University of Louisville. The students were exposed to various career paths and were supplied an opportunity to ask many insightful question. Thank you to Judy Martin, our Chapter’s Academic Relations Chair, for her hard work and dedication to bring students and our profession together. Below are some pictures of the event.

BELLARMINE SCHOL-ARSHIP

With the proceeds that are raised from the sem-inars, our Chapter do-nates scholarships to our local universities. The students are select-ed by the Accounting Chair who exhibit dedi-cation to their growth and development in the accounting field. The student recipients are very grateful for the continued support from our Chapter.

QUALITY ASSESSMENT REVIEW In 2013 the chapter began a Quality Assessment Review program. Participants attended an IIA training that instructed them on how to perform third party validation reviews of internal audit department’s compliance with the International Professional Practices Framework. The audit departments that were interested paid an extra fee and sent a staff member to the training and for their commitment of staff and money would receive a third party validation. A few participants agreed to volunteer to participate in at least one external validation. We have received some interest from a couple of departments interested in the chapter program. We are reaching out to the membership to determine the continued interest in this program. Please click here to take a short survey. To date, the chapter has performed three validations. We have two departments that are in the process of getting ready to receive an external validation of their self-assessment.

MANAGING YOUR AUDIT CAREER IIA President and CEO Richard Chambers, CIA, CGAP, CCSA, CRMS, has recently shared his personal reelections and insights through “top lists” blogs. We wanted to share with you a few of these with our members. Check out the links to read more. Talent Management is Critical to Internal Audit’s Success Click Here for the full article. The IIA recently released Global Perspective and Insights — a whitepaper that includes some sobering information regarding how the internal audit profession is addressing emerging risks globally. The paper is based on a survey of more than 2,200 internal auditors in more than 100 countries and territories around the world. The good news is that internal auditors recognize the degree to which culture, cybersecurity, and big data present risks in their organizations. Yet, the percentage of respondents who had not undertaken any internal audit work in each of those three areas was startling: 62 percent had not audited culture, 25 percent had not audited cybersecurity, and 26 percent had not audited big data. As surprising as the rate of "no shows" was when it came to auditing three critical emerging risks, I was struck even more by the reason those risks are often left off of internal audit plans: A lot of internal auditors acknowledge that they simply do not know how to audit them. In fact, 25 percent of those who hadn't audited culture cited a lack of competence. Even worse, 65 percent of those who hadn't audited cybersecurity cited a lack of necessary skills, as did 46 percent of those who had not audited big data. One could argue that these are not risks that the profession historically audited, and that it will take time to embed the appropriate skills. However, if we are to audit at the speed of risk, time is a precious commodity. When future corporate calamities invariably foster questions about "where were the internal auditors," one answer that won't be satisfactory is, "Oh, it was a new risk, and the internal auditors hadn't yet the time to learn how to audit it."
