MUSAEL ARTE DE LA CONSERVACIÓN

La conservación de los arrecifes naturales se ha convertido en un tema crítico que amenaza la preservación de la vida en el largo plazo. Más de 700.000 personas visitan anualmente los arrecifes naturales del Parque Marino Costa Occidental, Punta Cancún y Punta Nizuc para realizar actividades tales como el snorkel y el buceo, lo cual dificulta su preservación. Ante esta necesidad se tomó la decisión de construir el mejor y más grande Museo Subacuático de Arte del mundo.“El arte de la conservación”, el lema del museo, ilustra el potencial de interacción entre el arte y la preservación del medioambiente. El MUSA (Museo Subacuático de Arte) es un espacio subacuático úni-co y dinámico, que resalta el importante rol que el arte puede tener en promover conciencia sobre problemáticas ambientales. The conservation of the coral reefs has become a critical issue that threatens the preservation of life in the long run. and dynamic, that highlights the important role art can have to pro-mote consciousness over environmental issues.The project, founded by Jaime Gonzalez Cano from the National Marine Park, Roberto Díaz from the Nautical Association of Can-cún and the artist Jason de Caires Taylor, consists of 490 sculp-tures from local and international artists that have been placed at the bottom of the sea inside the Protected Natural Area. Two exhibition“rooms” have been opened: Manchones and Nizuc. The Manchones showroom, 10 metres (33 ft)deep, is 30 minutes away from Cancun by boat, very near Isla Mujeres. Nizuc’s gallery, on the other hand, is 3 metres (10 ft) deep and can be found to the South of Cancun’s island, close to the Hotel Zone.

Puerto MorelosPuerto Morelos, ubicado a 36km al sur de Cancún, es el principal puerto del Caribe Mexicano.
