B. KIMOD SHOAL

Monad’s little brother, Kimod Shoal offers daytime encounters with threshers, away from other drivers. Also for the more advanced enthusiasts, Kimod offers dives between 30- and 100 meters, for up close encounters with thresher sharks and schooling hammerheads.

A. MONAD SHOAL

The only place in the world where thresher sharks are seen everyday, and where giant manta rays are a regular sight, Monad is an underwater island on the edge of a 200-meter drop off that is perfect for Nitrox diving. A site for more advanced divers, Monad is also frequented by devil rays and eagle rays.

• MONAD SHOAL- DEEP ADVENTURE DIVE

An Open Water diver can explore a deep dive in Monad Shoal (25-30 meters) by taking the Deep Adventure Dive Course. Diver should read beforehand the manual in deep adventure dive and will dive under the supervision of a dive instructor. Online manual is required to be purchased by the diver with his/her credit card after doing the course which cost Php 2,800.

C. GATO ISLAND

“You come to Malapascua to see the thresher sharks, but you leave remembering Gato,” the anecdote goes.

No argument here. Gato Island is one of the more famous dive sites near Malapascua. A marine reserve and sea snake sanctuary, it is a showcase of undersea life: banded sea snakes, cattle fish, sea horses, nudibranchs, frog fishes, scorpion fishes, porcupine fishes, smashing mantis shrimps, squid, big-mouthed mackerel, white tip sharks, bamboo sharks, cat sharks. The corals are in good condition, and the rocky island has interesting underwater rock formations, overhangs, and swim-through.

D. HOUSE REEF

Malapascua House reef is also very well known for incredible macro at all its dive sites. You can see many types of shrimps and crabs, including harlequin shrimp, ghost shrimp and xeno crabs. Pipefish are all around including several types of ghost pipefish. Also expect to see various types of cuttlefish, octopus (including blue-ringed octopus), moray eels, frog fish, to mention just a few. The night dive is spectacular, with mandarin fish mating all over the place, seahorses, bobtail squid, seahorses, and huge crabs and sea stars. Mimic and blue ring octopus can be seen as well as the occasional stargazer and hairy frogfish. Some have said the muck diving rivals Lembeh Straits.

Kandaya offers a full range of PADI diving courses from beginner certification through to professional. Our experienced and knowledgeable outsource diving instructors have been through PADI's (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) rigorous training procedures and have taught hundreds of people to dive.

• DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING

A half day diving course for beginners who doesn’t have experience in diving. This diving includes 1 hour of orientation and discussion, 1 hour of pool skills and 1 hour of open water fun dive with the assistance of dive instructor. Price is 11,800.

• OPEN WATER COURSE

The course is for those who wanted to be a certified PADI diver. It will take 3-4 days of training which includes Introduction of OWC, Dive Practical in Confined pool and open water, Practical skills at Malapascua House reef and examination. Price is 39,400.

• ADVANCE OPEN WATER COURSE

This diving course is for Open water certified diver who wanted to level up his/her certification. It will take 2-3 days of training which includes Introduction of AOWC, Dive Practical in Confined pool and open water, Practical skills at Malapascua House reef and examination. Price is 34,500.

KUWADRA HORSE STABLES

Kandaya Kuwadra Horse Stables is located besides the carpark. The facility offers guided lessons on well trained horses in a spacious arena and trail rides through coconut trees and along the shoreline.
