Oracle Database 10g Express Edition for Microsoft Windows : OracleXE.exe

Double click on the OracleXE.exe icon

Allow installation to proceed by clicking [Yes] button

Click [Next] button

Accept License AgreementClick [Next] button

Select Oracle product to be installed (Oracle Database 10G Express Edition)Click [Next] button

Select password you are going to use to connect to the Oracle Database for the accounts SYS and SYSTEM

Click [Next] button

Depending on your computer’s speed and amount of RAM, the installation could take some time…

Your Oracle software was successfully installedClick [Finish] button

This screen shows Oracle database service running on your Windows machine (the console is accessible from

Administrative Tools menu. It will be started automatically on startup.

Unlike many other RDBMS Oracle’s Express Edition makes most of the installation decisions for you….



Major Limitations of the Express Edition

• The Oracle 10g software can only address 1GB of RAM

• Will only use single CPU (even if you’ve got Quad processor on your computer)

• Only one database can be installed for the instance

• The size of the database is limited to 4GB
