Spouses Boots to Business- Entrepreneurial Training

Have you ever dreamed about owning your own business? Do you have a new business idea that you are just waiting for the right time to launch? The Employment Readiness Program (ERP) at Army Community

Service (ACS) can help you get started! ERP partners with the Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Patsy Mink Center for Business Leadership to offer a two-day Entrepreneurial

Training Workshop for military spouses. And if you attend the two-day workshop you are able to complete a highly rated Foundations of Entrepreneurship course offered for free by

the Institute for Veterans and Military Families at Syracuse University. An 8 week online program that helps you develop your own business

plan.

The Spouses Boots to Business is offered once a quarter with the next workshop on Wednesday, August 26 9 AM - 12 PM and

Thursday, August 27 9 AM - 3 PM. The one and a half day class gives participants training to develop the knowledge and tools required to identify a business opportunity, draft a business plan

and launch your enterprise.

Since 2013, over 20,000 service members and spouses have participated in SBA Boots to Business training. In 2014 over

$766 million in lending was supported by the SBA for over 2,300 veteran owned businesses. According to the US Census, about

2.4 million or 9% of all U.S. small businesses are veteran owned.

The National Association of Women Business Owners provides 2014 data about women owned businesses on their website. More than 9.1 million fi rms are owned by women, employing nearly 7.9 million people

and generating $1.4 trillion in sales as of 2014. Women owned fi rms (50% or more) account for 30% of all privately held fi rms

and contribute 14% of employment and 11% of revenues. One in fi ve fi rms with revenue of $1 million or more is woman-

owned.

The Spouse Boots to Business workshop targets military spouses however it is also open to active duty service members and

civilians. To register you may call ACS at 655-4227 or reserve a space by registering online: http://www.trumba.com/calendars/
