AIRPORT TRANSFERS
We offer a professional and friendly‘Meet and Greet’ service.
Once you have collected your luggageyou will come out of the Customs Halland see one of our airport represent-atives holding a Discovery Summersign with your name. Coaches / taxisleave at regular intervals to take youto your centre.
On departure, we check you onto yourflight and see you through to departures.
Airport transfers by coach or taxi areincluded in the fees on publishedarrival and departure dates for flightsscheduled to arrive/depart between09.00 and 15.00 hours from/to specificairports (see fees sheet for details).
Special private transfers (at extra cost)can be arranged at any other time andfrom any other airport.
We recommend you book your flightsas early as possible.
WELFARE ANDACCOMMODATION
Coming to England is an excitingadventure. To get the most from yourstay you need to feel safe, secure andhappy.
Your boarding house is supervised by afriendly, caring House Parent/WelfareOfficer. He or she will be there towelcome you, to answer any questions,to make sure you know what’shappening - and to care for you. Ourteam of staff also live in the boardinghouses and are available 24 hours aday. Boys and girls are accommodatedin separate areas.

On our English and Multi-Activitycourses, the teaching programme issplit between English Skills and EnglishWorkshops (see centre pages forfurther details).
Placement TestingOn arrival, you will be given a writtenand oral test and placed into your EnglishSkills class appropriate for your ageand level.
You may change class as levels varyeach week. This encourages additionalinteraction with new students.
English Student HostsIn most classes, an English StudentHost will be there to help and support you, whether by modelling correct use ofEnglish, speaking English colloquially or working with you on your pronunciation.You’ll take home your DS academic
folder with diary, examples of yourwork, weekly learner reviews, anacademic report, a DS certificate and acourse photo to share with your familyand remind you of your Discoveryexperience.
English Skills ClassesTopic-based classes (e.g. Great Britain,Media & Entertainment, Science & Tech)help develop core skills (e.g. in usinggrammar, reading, writing, listening, andbuilding confidence in spoken English).
Lessons are designed to challenge andinspire the needs of the class. Oursyllabus is based on Trinity GESE/CEFR(Common European Framework ofReference), and our creative teambring it to life!
Our maximum class size is 12*international students.
To challenge and stretch ourhigher level learners,teachers introduce andexplore a range ofchallenging topics e.g. in-depth study of Britishculture and global issues.
EXAMS (2017: 100% success rate!)
Trinity Graded Exam in Spoken English(GESE) - optional and at extra cost (£90).
This oral exam has 12 levels (N.B. Dueto the complex topics involved examsat level 8 and above may not besuitable for very young learners). YourDirector of Studies will decide whichlevel you will take. Exams take placesubject to demand.
We recommend you take this exam tomake you more confident in usingspecific language and to gain aninternationally-recognised certificate.
Preparation classes are given for oneweek before the exam. This may be inplace of either English Skills or EnglishWorkshop classes. With the support andencouragement of English Student Hostsour students achieve impressive results!

Marymount International School is located on a privateestate just 18km from central London. The campus is idealfor young children. It is safe, compact and has manyexcellent facilities, set in beautiful landscaped lawns andgardens. Heathrow airport is 45 minutes away.
Nearby is the town of Kingston-upon-Thames, on the banksof the River Thames. Hampton Court Palace and RichmondPark, London’s largest royal park, are close by.
Classrooms are modern and well-equipped. Good use ismade of the IT facilities in the school library.

Woldingham School is situated in a beautiful, secluded valleyof 280 hectares in Surrey, near Oxted. It is only 25km fromLondon and close to the M25 motorway. Gatwick is 30minutes away and Heathrow an hour away. Direct trains fromLondon Victoria to Woldingham station take 35 minutes.
Woldingham has extensive, landscaped grounds and offerssome excellent facilities: an arts centre, a home economicsclassroom for cooking, an impressive auditorium foroccasional film nights, an indoor sports centre, indoorswimming pool and tennis dome, an adventure playground,tennis courts, football pitch and astroturf.

The campus, set in 325 hectares of parkland, is welcomingand completely self-contained. The facilities for study andrecreation are excellent. SHREWSBURY SCHOOLShrewsbury is well-known as a traditional independentschool. It was founded in 1552 and has Charles Darwinamongst its famous ‘old boys’. It is situated across theRiver Severn from the thriving market town ofShrewsbury. Manchester and Birmingham airports areapproximately 1.5 hours by road; London Heathrow 3-4hours.

Coding with Raspberry Pi: Raspberry Pi enablesyou to explore coding in a fun and practical way. On ourTech Academy you develop problem-solving and criticalthinking skills whilst learning important newprogramming skills e.g. programming language, creatingalgorithms, testing programmes for mistakes.
No prior knowledge of coding is required. However, if youare already familiar with Raspberry Pi you will have the chanceto further your skills with help from our specialist staff.Projects may include:
