DiseaseA disease is an abnormal condition that affects the body of an organism. It is
often construed as a medical condition associated with specific symptoms and signs.
There are four main types of disease: pathogenic disease, deficiency disease, hereditary disease, and physiological disease. Diseases can also be classified as
communicable and non-communicable disease.
BacteriaBacteria are microorganisms too small to see with the naked eye that exist in
virtually all environments in the world. Bacteria are a member of a large group of
unicellular or one-celled microorganisms that lack organelles and an organised
nucleus. There can be useful bacteria in the body of a living organism but others areknown to cause diseases.
Types of Diseases
Communicable and non-communicable
Communicable: These types of diseases can be transferred from an infected
person to a healthy person through different mediums such as air, food, water, skin
contact etc. These are caused due to pathogens which are disease-causing
microorganisms. Thats why these diseases are also called pathogenic diseases.
Examples: tuberculosis, common cold etc.
Non-communicable: These diseases do not spread from person to person. These
can be due to genetic reasons or due to malfunctioning of some organs. Examples:
cancer, mental disorders.
